The black one (canopy to fuselage) seemed to be in pretty good condition with no looseness or rattling of the canopy . Haven't installed the white one yet=2C but I believe it is required as i t is more a air and water seal??? Richard N256GT From: dcheever@bak.rr.com Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Canopy seals I know by the previous post from Gary about shutting the list down that th ere must be someone out there other than me receiving the posts here=2C so thought I should put something in play. Instead of waiting for my next trip to KAUN=2C I'll ask some post painting questions so perhaps everyone may b enefit. Here is the first. Before painting I bought new canopy seals from F letchair and gave them to the paint shop. Unfortunately they did not quite know what to do with black one (which should go on the canopy) but did ins tall the white one on the fuselage. Then when the canopy would not close t he last 6 inches or so=2C they removed the white one and trimmed the plasti c piece where it attaches. Now I have them both and only a smashed black r ubber seal remains on the canopy itself. I understand some people have appl ied a strip of felt at the back of the canopy instead of the factory seals. Should I put in the new black and white seals=2C put a felt strip on the canopy or just say the heck with it and let Gary fix it when we change the windshield in a month or so? It will deteriorate in a couple of years and drag on the fuselage. A felt seal is better. It will last about 5-10 years.
