Subject: | IFF/TIM Control Box for APX-72 Transponder |
--> Warbird-List message posted by: "Martini Luc J.R." <martini@foxinternet.net>
To those who still read the LONELIEST section of the Matronics list:
I am looking for a Control Box for an early APX-72 military transponder installation.
The Control Box dating to the late 1950's or early 1960's is mostly like
a C-7483/APX or a C-6717/APX and is labeled IFF/TIM on the front left side
of the panel. These boxes did NOT have a means for entering the IFF MODED CODES
(done on another box, APN-89 ??) like later IFF Control Boxes did. The panel
consists primarily of 6 toggle switches, 3 of which select Test/Off/On for
each of the 3 modes (Modes 1,2.3). The other 3 toggles select TEST MODE on/off,
IP MIC on/off, and Mode C on/off. There is also a Master rotary Switch with
positions STNBY, LOW, NORM, EMERG, and a Press to Test light.
I have a picture of the box I am looking for, so if you are familiar with this
equipment, send me an e-mail, and I can send you a photo so you can hopefully
identify what I am looking for.
I give Bonus points to anyone that HAS one for sale!
Thanks
Luc

I am having a hell of a time removing the prop from my T-6. I have the
special wrenches from Sun Air and am able to remove the "Little Giant" oil
seal but cannot get the piston to budge. I put a 3/4" breaker bar in the
socket wrench and used a 1 1/4" galvanized pipe over that and was able to
bend the breaker bar but no joy on turning the piston. I shot penetrating
oil inside on the threads and heated it with a heat gun until I could not
touch it and still no luck.
Any ideas or am I missing something.

Well, I have had to use a 3 foot heavy duty "breaker" bar with 2 guys hanging
on to it!
We put a 2x6 under the blade to keep it from turning.
Good luck!
