As it is, a couple of > dealers I know recc'd me away from the C90 due to readability concerns.) > > geez jamie, you may not want to here this. sony's recent attemp at a home theater preamp had a user upgradeable update. the friggin thing cost over $130!!!!! this was a CD and a serial cable... as for the readable faceplate, i bought an xcr-c900 about 5 years ago. the display was TERRBILE. i bought a refurb one from ebay earlier this year. and man, the display was like nite and day! i no longer hand to shade the display during sunlight just to read it. so i guess they fixed that problem... btw, you made some very good points. i'll be collecting them and handing them to the sony reps next month in CES.
