With and with out rear fill. It's all in the system setup. I personally don't use any rear fill or center channel. From my experience with them they tend to add more problems than they fix (Center channel) IMHO. --- NOTGSXR@aol.com wrote: > --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: NOTGSXR@aol.com > > In a message dated 12/23/02 3:06:15 PM Eastern > Standard Time, > jvisentine@yahoo.com writes: > > > Some top-notch systems don't even use rear-fill! > With > > a correctly set up and adequate front stage, rear > fill > > should be un-necesarry for optimum front-seat > imaging. > > > Thanks for the response...... SS has been bought out by a lower echelon company. and that their current amp line doesnt even touch the REF series. but i found a source that refurbs thems. i've had 2 SS ref 300 amps in my truck. although 1 went bad recently, these refurbs are about 5-6 years old now. the only other amp i might considered are the first or second gen phoenix gold amps. circa probably early 90s. i remember seeing one of them powering a high-end display in CES. they had it covered in a home-style amp chassis. the sign next to it said, "would you believe this sound is from a $500 amplifier?" of course in high end home audio, $500 might buy you a set of RCA cables... so when lifted this fake chassis, the car amp from PG was powering these home speakers... it was so great.. and funny.
