Subject: | 4000X delay settings for subwoofer? |
--> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Woudsma, Mark" <Mark.Woudsma@am.sony.com>
Hello Listers.
For some time now I have been experimenting with different delay settings
for my sub channel.
My vehicle of choice is a 2000 VW Golf, with two 12" subs in the hatch area.
The subs are in a 2 cu ft enclosure that is located just behind the rear
seat backs, but the woofers are directed not at the seat backs but towards
the rear of the car, and on an up-angle. So basically they point up and
towards the rear window when the hatch is closed. My question to you all is
how should I measure for the delay setting for the subs?
I have tried a setting at about 60" with all the fronts and rear-fill set at
their respective distances. The bass response is mediocre. When I remove all
delay settings, the bass response is excellent, and tight, but of course I
have no time correction anywhere else either. With the fronts and rear-fill
set accordingly, and the subs set at 0 the response is crap. Should I take a
measurement from the back of the woofer (straight line) or try measuring a
reflection wave off the rear glass?
Thanks.
Mark
