My blue ring turns off after key off, sounds strange to me.
Do you keep your EL on or off during regular operation? If you keep it off, the
only thing I could think of is maybe the ACC and BAT wires are wired opposite...
keeping the ring on (continuously) -without the face if you have EL off.
Otherwise, your C90 is different... different than mine anyway.

I just got my refurbed C90 back from Sony, looks brand new. I'm wondering if
anyone else's C90 does this also. With all the connections correct (power,
ground acc.). When I shut off the vehicle the blue light around the Source
button stays on 'till you remove the faceplate. Everything on the unit works
as it should, it retains memory like it should also. The one I sent in to
get fixed didn't have any of the faceplate lighting stay on after key-off.
Also I wonder if any serious current draw can be had from this. I regularly
take my FP with me at all times.

I always keep the EL display on. In fact last night I was driving home from
work and the contrast on the display kept changing all by itself, then the
display went completely blue/purple and then the FP went dead. No
amber/green button lights or display. Nothing, dead. I'm going to try
another FP, from there its back to service. Funny thing is my C910 works
perfect. Does anyone notice a difference between the volume output between
the C910 & C90. The C90 seems to have a more headroom and volume even though
their both optically connected to the processor. Just wondering, for
everyone who has a C90, how many times has it been in service and what was
the reason?

Guys,
Check for an ignition sense switch on the deck somewhere...might be on
the bottom of the unit
or in the deck's setup, but it will basically leave the deck on when you
turn the key back. For
the C910, it's on the bottom of the deck...
Only other thing I can think of is if you have the illumination wire
hooked up to the constant +12 wire.

My C90 has never been in service as far as I know. I bought mine used with my 4000X
processor from an IASCA judge in Canada named Tom Kliem. He may have had
problems with them, but as far as I know, he did not. I remember him making a
comment like "If I knew this was going to cost me so much, I wouldn't have bothered
selling them." He claimed that he had to pay his bank extra money to get
the money order cleared fast (even though it was a Western Union money order???)
I dunno, anyway, I got my C90 and 4000X for $900 from him, plus shipping which
was kinda steep at $30 per unit (shipped separately). However, they've performed
for me very well.

Eli, I was thinking the same thing. I know that almost every Sony HU has an
"A"-"B" switch on the bottom that changes the unit for cars that have no
ignition wire. On the C90 however this option might be in a menu and not an
actual switch.
However if this switch were in the "wrong" position (i.e. set for cars with
NO ignition wire) then ALL illumination would turn off when the unit was
"OFF" regardless of whether the key was on or off. What appears is
happening with you is just the opposite. Regardless of key on or off the
unit's illumination is staying on--this should not happen.
A probably cause of this as was mentioned is if the BATT and IGN wires were
swapped or both connected to +12V constant (BATT). Though with the other
problems you are now again having with it, it seems like it may indeed be a
problem with the deck...

Oh, okay I think I get it... If I have an XT-U500V and an MD player/changer
(I do) then I will get the graphics generation when playing CDs and the
radio but not for MD titles? Kind of like my MDX-400 doesn't understand the
CD-Text display my XR-C9100 master gets from the CD changer?
I remember the 'ol XK-R100 HU was kind of like that. You could use an MD
changer but you wouldn't get the title display information on it...
So I will get SOME character generation then, correct?

I believe this is my first post on here, but I'm curious as to what
anyone who's had service done on their C90 has experienced that required
the service in the first place. Also, what were the costs involved with
Sony depending on what the problem was and parts replaced? I've had
both a C90 and a 4000 for a little while, although I haven't even used
or installed them yet, I'd like to know what I may be in store for later
on down the road potentially. This may be very assistive to everyone on
here. Thanks for any info in advance.
