I've never personally dealt with any repairs on these components, but I can
offer a bit of insight as to what it will entail. Sony states that there is
a flat $125.00 charge for any repair on the CDX-C90 head unit. They also
say that they may charge more if the problems that they encounter are more
expensive to fix than that flat rate. As for the XDP-4000X, I don't know
the amount of the flat rate charge, but I assume it is around the same, or
at least that it works in the same way. The other thing to keep in mind is
that Sony keeps all parts for repair of any equipment that has been
discontinued for a total of 7 years from that date that they stopped
production. That should give all of us a good 5-6 years of continued use
without any worries about availability of repairs, at least we hope so.
That's about all I know about repair worries, and trust me, I've worried a
big deal about it. I don't see myself letting go of these units for some
time to come. As far as I'm concerned, nothing comes even close to the
overall sound quality they can reproduce, and I don't see any company in the
near future shocking any of us, considering the economy, or the overall take
on sound quality in a car, and the components built for that purpose. It
just isn't happening anymore. They can all have their mp3's and other
inferior options for reproduction, I'm going to stick with the best at this
time.

Anybody looking for a TV tuner. Graphics Generator supports Custom File settings,
not CD-Text. If using this with the C90, the on-screen List layout stays the
same with the HU. With the C910, the List function is transferred to the TV
display.
