What you need is a standard 'Serial' Port. This is very important to
specify or ask about, because as laptops are getting faster and more
advanced, older features like the floppy disk and the serial i/o are slowly
being phased out. You won't be at a complete loss if you get a computer
without a serial port, but it will mean alot more work and research to make
a proper connection. I hope that answers your question.
Bobby

i believe you can get a usb to serial port connector if your laptop no longer
has the serial port connection.......

the usb to serial connector didn't work for me...I think the port needs to
have it's own address or something like that....if you are good (which I
thought I was, but I guess was wrong) with windows and configure it, go for
the usb option, otherwise, I would get a laptop with serial....
Since we are on the topic of connectors...anyone want to let me know how to
hook an iPod into our systems?
