--> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Colin" <colin@dp-motorsport.co.uk> I was just thinking, I want a new HU but Sony doesnt do any that have an optical out anymore. Pioneer have units with optical outs on them, I was wondering if you could use one of them with the XDP-4000x? I know you need a unilink to turn the 4k on, so I was thinking about putting my C910 in the boot with the unilink connected and the optical out from the pioneer connected up to the 4k. Colin

--> XDP4000X-List message posted by: Bobby Braun <BobbyBraun@comcast.net> I'm still trying to think of why you would want to do that anyways. You'd still need to use your c-910 for volume control, and selection of crossover and sound presets, since these are all unilink controlled, along with power on and off. So in essence, all you'd be using the pioneer for is the actual soundstream, of which you could just as easily get from your c910. Sure, what you are thinking would work, but why? Just for a new look in your dash? I don't think it's worth the pain. --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Colin (DP Motorsport)" <colin@dp-motorsport.co.uk> Would the volume control not work on the Pioneer unit? Then i would only use the C910 selection of presets? --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Doug Dobson" <dougdobson@chartermi.net> The optical out simple transmits the digital signal in its purest form to be processed later. There is no way to control volume of an optical signal. So, yes you would need the 910 for all of its functions and the Pioneer would be a cd slot. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Colin (DP Motorsport)" <colin@dp-motorsport.co.uk> Subject: RE: XDP4000X-List: Pioneer with Optical Out > --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: "Colin (DP Motorsport)" <colin@dp-motorsport.co.uk> > > Would the volume control not work on the Pioneer unit?
