Also check out http://users.ntplx.net/~andrew/unilink/unilink/ (has a
reference to a sony document with reference number) It's a little more
'official' than a pure reverse-engineering job.

Do you also know about http://gnunilink.sourceforge.net/ ?

Curious to find out what you're up to :) homebrew MP3 jukebox built
around a VIA Eden or something?

Thanks for the link, Paul. I had actually seen those too. Yup, home-brew
mega-mp3 "changer" in the works... USB audio "card" with 48000hz PCM over
toslink for direct connection into the xdp-4000x. How cool!

Damn this Unilink protocol, though. It's really tough syncing up on
it. There's the cool clock line, but it only outputs when there's data, so
you're constantly resyncing. Now, if I had TWO interrupts, I could put the
data on one and the clock on the other. Would probably still suck... ;-)

I wrote a sort of "storage-scope" program today to capture the pulse trains
and then plot them out with Excel so I could better understand the
timings. There seems to be this odd "0" byte sent between every packet
that I don't see mentioned in any of the documentation I've looked
at. Hum, could this be magic sync pulse I've been wanting... Time will
      tell...

      I'll keep you posted.
