Hi David,
I did read in other posts that some of the protocol was the same with
the remote-capable Sony heads, but what I was asking is just for someone
to repost the links that would take me to those webpages with the
pictures of the various steering wheel remote adaptors. I seem to
recall the subject being discussed since the start of the year, but I
can't seem to locate them. Thanks for what you did offer though.

Put in on the forum of http://www.showyoursound.nl and
http://www.carstyling.net
ps. The XDP-4000X is very rare in Europe, I had to buy one in the USA
because I could not find one in Europe (Belgium).
Christof.

Hello,
A friend of mine has a CDX-C90 connected to a XDP-210EQ but he cannot set
the equaliser. He can chose the different programs (10) but he cannot alter
them. In the maual it says that you have to press 4 to select a frequenties
and then lower or rease the level with the volume. If you are finished press
5. If he does this on the C90 it does not work. Does he need the wireless
remote to set the equaliser, because he lost it?
Thanks,
Christof.

Either you are misunderstanding the manual or it is wrong... The way to set
the equaliser is to hold down the SOUND button until the display changes.
This will give you access to the settings menu. There should be three
settings available from here. You will get settings for listening position
tweaking, crossover adjustment (CNW) and the EQ. Pressing the SOUND button
allow you to then switch between the three and the number buttons with the
arrows now "on" will allow you to toggle within each selection. I'm not
sure if the C90 has these light up arrows or if they just appear on the
display but it should be the same as with the other units...
To exit the settings menus you will have to again hold down the SOUND button
for a few seconds to exit back to the "regular" controls.
Roland M.
BTW: Just as a note, the C90/210EQ pairing isn't the best one. Really the
C90 is better of without the 210EQ as the C90 alone will get you better
sound quality. The XDP-4000X is a much better unit to use with the C90. If
you really need the EQ then I guess the 210EQ will do the job but you will
sacrifice some of the sound quality the C90 has...

Hello,
You have to use the wireless remote to physically set
the EQ and LPS settings with the C90. The memory can
be recalled from the C90's face, but to physically
change EQ curves and LPS positions, the wireless is
your ONLY option (or get a friend to program the
presets with another Unilink HU and they will remain
in memory when hooked up to your system - but that is
pretty impractical!)
I agree the converters are not as good as the C90's,
but I would GLADLY take a SMALL step down in D/A
conversion to help the interior's poor acoustics by
means of EQ, LPS, and Crossover. You won't notice any
degredation and will be able to get your system
sounding FANTASTIC!
Just a note: I found the Left to Right LPS offset
sounds a bit artificial for my tastes, but the front
to rear offset will make your front stage come ALIVE
if set properly (Read that "not too much rear fill!")
The one thing I miss on my XDP-4000x is the instantly
avalible bass and treble controls. Oh well, a small
price to pay. I just have 3 main EQ curves I use, and
have a few different "sub-curves" to allow a small
bass and treble boost to each preset if desired. It
works, but I would still prefer a stand alone bass and
treble like the 210 has...
Enjoy your fine setup...
