(i.e. It functions the same as a head unit). Connecting it to another head unit (like the C90) would be the same as connecting two other head units together--it wouldn't work. The XAV-7W's UniLink connection is there because it can control UniLink SLAVES (e.g. CD changers). As for the CD-Text on the XT-40V I'm just restating what someone else on this mailing list has said. I've never used it to know but apparently others have. If anyone can (perhaps again?) comment on this to help him out, it would be appreciated. He is the firmware engineer that I worked with on the updates for the C90/4000x. He was always very responsive. His email address is: mwoo@phatnoise.com I've included a couple of PDFs links of my system. Ignore the comments on the drawings; most were to support the dialog I was having at the time with Mike regarding the Firmware. http://www.matronics.com/xdp4000x/CorvetteSystem.pdf http://www.matronics.com/xdp4000x/XA-C30_Wiring_Version_2.pdf The drawings do give you a good idea of the complexity of the system. About the only thing I've found that doesn't really work is adding the third CD Changer into the system. I think there is just too much stuff on the system at that point and things work somewhat unreliably. Sounds to me like there is a confliction with your particular model of CD Changer and the Phatbox. The Unilink protocol is a weird one (to say the least), and it's amazing it works at all, frankly. The Phatbox and the CD Changer may be dukeing it out for the slave 0 position. Mike might be able to get his hands on a CD Changer similar to yours to do some testing. Or, he might ask to have you send it to him for testing. I sent Mike a 4000x, and a XA-300 to get things working on my system. He was really good about getting right on the work and then sending the units back when he was done. Keep me and the List up to date on your progress. You require either any of the following Multi-Changer Adapters (MCAs): XA-C30 (connect up to 3 changers, current model), XA-U40 (connect up to 4 changers, past model), XA-U20 (connect up to 2 changers, past model). Or if you could ever find a Blaupunkt "CDC-BRIDGE" for cheap it is the same as the XA-U40. (That is what I did and it only cost $5 US!!! :) Roland M.
