      Hello XDP-heads,

Does anybody know if there are any firmware updates for the XDP-4000X. It must
be possible to do this, because it has a RS-232 port on it. I also own a TAE-9000ES
home digital preamp and I have upgraded it form version 1.10c to 1.18c ,
2.01c and finally to version 2.50. It sounds better and has more functionality.
So I hope Sony has the same for the XDP-4000X.

      Dick Brussee

While it might seem possible at the same time it might not be possible. To
be upgradeable the firmware in the XDP would have to be on flash ROM or
something similar. It may be that the firmware is on permanent hardware and
not changeable without actually changing out chips in the unit.

However, even assuming it was flash upgradeable, I don't think there has
ever been any updates released to the general public or otherwise--though I
      could be wrong.

      Roland M.

I think as far a Sony is concerned, the XDP4000x and
C-90 are just a peice of their history - they have
moved on LONG ago and forgotten about "us" - the
mobile audiophiles. We are stuck with what we have -
well Phatbox has gratiously added ONE option for us,
but nothing new will happen to this top-notch set-up.

Oh well, once these units get old and start to have
major problems, I will just go to Alpine's F-1 since
Sony doesn't support our kind of products anymore. Do
they miss us? Not for a second...Xplod is probably
      much more profitable for them.
