TBH - I don't think sony will ever do DVD-A since they are so heavily vested in SACD. I just bought a Pioneer home DVD/SACD/DVD-A/MP3/VCD/SVCD player for $169. Sony has already eliminated themselves from making such a combo "swiss army knife" player since they won't embrace DVD-A. Sony sure does do SACD right, though! I forsee "ES" coming back in car audio with SACD. Maybe empty dreams...Oh well - I can dream. I want a SACD or DVD-A or Both in my car, anyone know is it can be added to the C910 & XDP-4000 combo. What i was thinking was to modify a Unilink cable so even when it was not plugged into anything it would think it was and use RCAs to run from a DVD-A/SACD player. Anyone think this would work. This way the unit does not have to be Sony. Also anyone know of any car DVD-A/SACD player? -----Original Message----- From: owner-xdp4000x-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-xdp4000x-list-server@matronics.com]On Behalf Of Randy Visentine Subject: Re: XDP4000X-List: DVD-A --> XDP4000X-List message posted by: Randy Visentine Not to my knowledge. Ironically enough, when Sony entered the VHS market (making recorders I mean, not just videotapes) it was something like 91 or 92 IIRC and it took them only one year to become the top seller of VHS machines in the US, a status it held up until at least the early stages of DVD. I dunno if they still sell the most VHS machines but they did for a very long time. To tell you the truth it is over for the C90 and 4000X in terms of product development. There is nothing left but to face it--its really over. Even if Sony started up mobile ES again, it would be based on completely new units. Unfortunately, if you want high-end AND cutting edge you gotta go with someone other than Sony. For your plan about switching RCAs you can either have a manual switch to change between RCA connections when you have an analog changer on or the C90 in tuner mode or you can just forgo using the tuner or something and whenever you're in tuner mode it will accept input from the Master analog input. Other than that you can just get an XA-300 Aux-In adapter. As for SACD, there is currently NO SACD player available for automobiles, and Sony says they have no plans for it at this moment :( That is of course stupid (or maybe "Sony") for you, considering there are several companies pushing DVD-A for car. The car is the perfect environment for multi-channel surround. IMO if Sony wants to see SACD go anywhere they really better stop the "no plans" attitude and get something going. Roland M.
