I have t ried the matronics software and the original DSC software uninstalled re-in stalled still nothing. I have been speaking to another user of the xdp-4000 x and he is leading me to believe The whole "Null" cable thing is BS and he uses a plain old RS232 Db9 serial cable without any issues. Now is it poss ible I am having an issue with the actual connection on the XDP-4000x ?? XP should work fine. I've heard of only one fellow that had a RS232 port burned out on the 4x. But generally, the RS232 port on the 4k is pretty robust. I would try it from a different computer.
