Subject: Yak-List: UK Travel --> Yak-List message posted by: John Alber <john@johnalber.com> Thanks for all the advice, guys. There is the National War Museum in London as I remember it is on the south bank. Also there is Cosford which concentates more on experimental miitary types that never made it to prime time very interesting all the same. Flying, well you should definately aim to meet up with Mark Jefferies he is at a little place called Little Gransden. For a few bucks maybe he will give you a ride in his Yak 11 (see www.yakuk.co.uk) He lists here and because you are correct side of the road challenged he may even arrange for you to be picked up from the local train station. On the trains, please don't even try. Driving on the "other" side of the road is not a big deal. Just remember that you need to sit in the middle of the road and do what ever it needs to keep it that way. Roundabouts, or to you circles are just 4 way stops with a pretty little garden in the middle. Rent a car and try it out I did it when I got here with no real problem. If the police stop you just play the tourist who knows no better. They will laugh and then hopefully help you out. --> Yak-List message posted by: FOUGAPILOT@aol.com Duxford. One must go to Duxford while in London. It is about 45min to 1hr north of the city passed Stanstead. It has an unbelievable collection of aircrafts from all era and much of them fly on a regular basis. When I went to London last may, I rented a car and drove for 3 days. No big deal. The biggest challenge is to actually approach the car from the driving side. I found myself sitting on the passenger side more then once... The rest comes naturally, in fact, is was a very enjoyable experience. Cheers. Dan

Brian has the reverse situation as he will drive from the outside (but this should suit as he is used to shouldering his way through life anyway). I've found the UK to be an enjoyable driving experience - great small, winding roads, traffic circles that make much more sense than our four way stops, etc. Hal

--> Yak-List message posted by: ByronMFox@aol.com Do not miss the opportunity to fly with Gennady Elfimov in Bobbington. His Yak 52 transition training is superb. Singularly the finest instructor I've ever flown with. His web site can be found at http://www.skytrace.co.uk ...Blitz Byron M. --> Yak-List message posted by: ByronMFox@aol.com Oh happy day! Flying again. Jim Selby et al's work is complete. Dave King and I had one of the prettiest formation rides I can recall back home from Marina yesterday. Should you visit Gnoss Field, please visit the newly established Selby & Soto Sanctuary where incense curls toward the top of my hangar and prayers and small offerings are made daily. ...Blitz Byron M.
