Actually, he doesn't become a man until the kid becomes a teenager. That

It seems as though there aren't a whole lot of people that REALLY know about this
stuff on the M14. I know a guy that just put a setup in his plane that seems
like it would be pretty maintanence free. I'll let you know when he tests
it. I thought that the response about attaching them like an EGT was a decent
idea. Not sure about the smoke leakage out of it though. Anyway, would you
let me know how you do it, if you do? I'm interested in smoking mine too. I'm
gonna do the breather into the exhaust for sure, so I'll keep you informed on
that.

There is a write up on smoke systems at http://www.yak-52.com under "Modifications".
For inject placement, it says:
"The nozzles.
Use a short piece of stainless steel tubing welded into the exhaust. It
should have an internal diameter of about 4 or 5 mm (1/8"). The nozzles can
be placed almost anywhere. The factory system on Sukhois uses nozzles very
close to the exhaust outlet, at the point where the exhaust from the bottom
two cylinders comes together. I have also seen the nozzles installed at the
very top of the engine. It seems to makes no difference at all."
Have fun,
Roy

YAKKERS;
I'm glad to report that YAK N911OM flew for the first time Saturday and
it's flying great! Let me say that this is one hell of a great airplane!
My compliments to the Russian designers.
They sure do "love the ground" though don't they? Gives new meaning to
"steep approach"...... but in a way it's kinda nice....no foolin' around
with float. And that climb! YEEEHHHAAAA! Hehehehe... you gotta love it!
One thing I learned: if you leave the plane sitting for about a month
without starting it, a lot of the oil will drain into the engine. At
least on my airplane it does. If you then check the dipstick you'll
notice it'll be down some amount. I figured it had just drained out of
the cleanup kit and/or into one of the cylinders. It had a solid
hydraulic lock that I could only drain by removing a spark plug. What I
Did was add oil to refill the tank to near MAX not knowing there was a
lot of oil in the engine. After the first flight my plane was dripping
oil. There was literally a trail of oil leading up to the gas pump. My
first thought was I'd broken an oil line to the cooler but it turned out
to be coming out of the overflow on the right side of the plane. A check
of the oil level revealed the level was way over MAX. I had to drain
maybe four quarts to bring it down to MAX level. Anyone want to venture
a guess if I've hurt anything?

James,
will get the details from the tires this weekend. As far as I know they
are just regular trailer tires certified to 120 mph. They are great and the
plane looks really beefy on the ground sitting up a bit.

I would like the data on the tires you talked about on the net. What,
and where come to mind. I have a CJ, will they fit?
Thanks Jim

any one know where I can obtain a set of cabin placards for the cabin switches.
Mine are faded and hard to read. Would like a set for the front and back cabins.
Thanks, Phil N4117M

Doug Sapp has them for the CJ6A. I don't know if they are available for
the Yak-52.

Hi Frank,
I don't have a 52 but I might assume that you have an oil dilution system
for cold weather operations.
A four quart error is a lot of oil.
I would check for a stuck valve in the oil dilution system if it happened on
my CJ-6.
Regards,
Terry Lewis
