--> Yak-List message posted by: Craig Payne <cpayne@mc.net> Yakkers, Announcement for next year's Aircraft Spruce sponspored races have been released. While the 100 mile race is only for amateur-built experimentals, production aircraft, registered as experimetal can enter the 60 mile race. I have done this for 2 years with my CJ-6. If 4 or more A/C of the same type enter, a separate class will be formed. While it's not a real "race", it is a competition of both precision flying and a well-prepared machine. Sometimes the result is good publicity. A couple of results I found interesting; you get hooked on "doing better next year", and each year, about 7 out of the 10 fastest aircraft in the product race just happen to be warbirds. (AOPA article) ANNUAL SUN 'N FUN RACE SET FOR APRIL Aircraft Spruce will host the twenty-first running of the Sun 100/Sun 60 Air Races as part of the annual Sun 'n Fun EAA Fly-in in Lakeland, Florida. The Sun 100, a 100-mile course, is for homebuilt aircraft while the Sun 60, a 60-mile event, is for certified aircraft. The homebuilt race is scheduled for April 3 with the certified race the following day. Each race is restricted to 75 aircraft and there is a $25 entry fee. To obtain an entry form, contact Jerry Aguilar at Aircraft Spruce, 800/824-1930 or e-mail( mailto:info@aircraftspruce.com ). Craig Payne

Sure, just as a 57 Chevy can beat a restored 82 Porsche... As for the "Yak-wannabe" paint job, you couldn't be further off the mark... As for Hal stepping in for me...we need to get him back from Tahiti first. I know I'd be tempted to stay....
