--> Yak-List message posted by: "Richard Basiliere" <BasiliereR@ci.boulder.co.us> Sir; If you have a drain for the intakes (clean kit) it may have been left open, or maybe an intake is loose. Admittedly from experience. Rick >>> yak52driver@earthlink.net 01/04/03 06:49PM >>> --> Yak-List message posted by: "Frank Haertlein" <yak52driver@earthlink.net> Speaking of close calls.................. I was making an ordinary landing at WJF and after touch down noticed my RPM would not come all the way down. There was enough power being produced that it would have made stopping difficult. I applied full power and went around the pattern again. The next landing was perfectly normal.....I was able to get RPM down enough to make a normal stop. I looked at the throttle cable and there is no problem with it. I'm perplexed as to what may have cause it. Anyone got any ideas? Frank N911OM

--> Yak-List message posted by: Gus Fraser <fraseg@comcast.net> Anyone interested in 28V High Intensity Discharge lights in a par36 housing for our aircraft. I am getting two for my plane at $480 for the pair. They are the same in all ways to those sold as aircraft ones for double that ($550 per light). The reason, well I am getting mine from an SUV supplier. I was unhappy with my normal nose gear landing light as it did not do a very good job of lighting. They draw less current and produce very little heat and have a life of 5000 hours per bulb. For those who don't know about them they are the same lights as are fitted to newer cars, really bright. If anyone is interested he says that he would like to get together an order for 5 as this would reduce his costs. I am planning on putting one on each main gear leg so that when the gear comes up the underside of the wing is illuminated. I am going to put a landing light lenses on one side and a taxi light lenses on the other. If interested please email me off line ( fraseg@comcast.net ) Gus

--> Yak-List message posted by: ByronMFox@aol.com I assume this event occurred in a Yak 52, but would be helpful if we would all remember to identify the type of aircraft being discussed in our e-mails. Thanks, Blitz

--> Yak-List message posted by: Gus Fraser <fraseg@comcast.net> It is a special order that is why he wants to know if there is a market for them. They are used on big rigs as far as I know. The PNs I can get but the ballast (the thing that produces the high initiation voltage) is a Philips unit and the bulb is a d1 form. They are the same units as those sold by Xvision for double the price. I am trying to convince this guy that there is a market for him he is at www.suvlights.com there is an excellent description of how it all works. --> Yak-List message posted by: "Frank Haertlein" <yak52driver@earthlink.net> Yakkers; I have two Russian words I'd like to see translated. Here's the link to see them...... http://home.earthlink.net/~yak52driver/russianwords.html The word on top was found beneath the original paint job. It looked like someone had placed cardboard on the tail and then used a razor blade to try and cut out the letters thus scratching the aluminum underneath........almost as though they were trying to create stencil lettering on the tail. The word on the bottom I found scratched on a part I ordered some time back. Anyone know what they mean? Thanks in advance! Frank N911OM

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Jon Boede" <jon@zoso.email.net> There's a good translation mechanism at: http://www.translate.ru/text.asp?lang=en Select "russian -> english" and a cyrillic keyboard will appear below. I like to joke that most "airplane russian" is really Secret Decoder Ring English... if you know the letter substitutions to the latin alphabet, or can sound out the words, it turns out that a lot of the technical words are english words written in Cyrllic.
