Sure is Ernie! Here in the Montgomery, AL area it's 21 degrees. It was in
the single digits last night.

Ha! NOW you need a heater in the CJ. Mine has heat but I really do need
a crew chief to warm it up and taxi it up near the ready room so I don't
get chilled by the walk!

Anyone ever had the following problem...
Whilst engaged in some formation practice for a show yesterday, one of the guys
noticed one of the other CJ's nose gear slowing extending. It extended fully
and the practice was terminated.
The gear was selected down and all was good. On cycling the gear all three unlocked
but hung in that position. The gear wascycleddown again and then up - this
time the mains retractedbut the nose gear stayed firmly in the down position.
The A/cwas returned to base andjacked.Retraction tests were carried out and the
gear retracted no problems, althoughthere seemed to be a leak from the front selector.
As the NLG actuator seals had been replaced a few hours ago theactuator
was tested for leakage across the piston - no problems there. After this test
the gear worked fine with no leaks.
My thoughts are that there must be something screwy going on as for the gear to
extend like that the uplock would have to release it in the first place, but
of course the gear wasn't selected down!!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Look for a leak in the emergency gear extension valve. Also look for a stuck
shuttle valve between the main and emergency pneumatic systems. It sounds like
the emergency side of the system is becoming pressurized either through a leak
in one of the shuttle valves or from the emergency air supply. You might not
notice the leak because the compressor is keeping the emergency bottle refilled.

Thank goodness I have one of those construction site LP Heaters and Heat pads on
the oil tank and prop sump. All I need is my exhaust parts and I'm airbourne
in central Florida.

Yep, as a man who has just found out he has squashed balls I agree. I would
also check the up locks though. It is very strange that the nose gear slowly
extended. Yep you got squashed balls too.

Two questions:
1) I have a Housai. Does anyone have a replacement T-fitting located between the
fuel pump and the fuel hose to the carburetor that is available?
2) I have not been able to locate any values for proper rudder and elevator cable
tensions in the related written materials. I assume these values are somewhat
typical of that found for our General Aviation aircraft. Are there, indeed,
some written values?
Thanks
