Gents and Ladies,
Some folks at Falcon Field (FFZ) here in Mesa Arizona are planning a 'round
the country flying tour beginning around May 21st 2003, the trip is being
well planned and will involve flying to most of the Aviation hotspots around
the nation (including Kittyhawk), in some cases they will be open just for
us(Rhinebeck). Persons going the whole route can plan on three weeks. So far
35 people/planes are planning to go, more are welcome. Most of the flying
will be same way/same day. Departures will be planned in three groups
relative to the aircraft's cruise speed.
It occurred to me that maybe some Yak Pilots club members might want to join
and that's why I am leaving this note. Flying with a Yak/CJ contingent
would be the way to do this. I am NOT the coordinator of this activity. We
as a group are going to likely involve the media and make some positive news
for GA flying.
I will probably set up some web information shortly to support this. If any
of you have an interest, call or email, I'll give you the up-to-date stuff.
FYI we are having once a month coordination meetings at FFZ, all are invited
to attend. The next meet is this Saturday 2/22 at 1300.

Fellow Yaksters,
Has anyone modified the ADF access panel to a hinged door? It looks structual,
and I'd like know if its easily do-able.
Also thanks for the tips, the hole duplicator worked like a charm :)

Hi folks -
I have a 400 HP M14 engine on my YAK-55 . My manuals for performance
are based on the 360HP version of rthe engine. I'd like to know if
anybody knows
- what the increased HP does to specific fuel consumption (it must go
up, but what is the range at 400HP?)
- how the performance curves (climb rate, speed, endurance) change.
Thanks in advance for any leads ...

Bill,
Many of us at Oshkosh and Sun n Fun picked up spec sheets with power and
consumption curves courtesy GESOCO and Aerostar. Check with George Coy.
However, which 400 HP do you have? There is more than 1 flavor so I'm
not sure what differences result. The sheets I have are for the M-14PF.

Ernie,
That door looks to me like a structural part of the side of the A/C.
It has a bunch of screws that provide strengh to the side.
I have seen the conversion to a hinged panel and the thinking from the guys
I talked
to was is might be weaker with the hinges. That said, it is a experimental
A/C.

I agree that its structual, I'm wondering if anyone has modifed the door to
where it maintains its structual integrity and can be opened and closed
easily.

YAKSTERS;
As some of you know, Drew has been called to action. As a result, he
won't be doing the planned opening of the REDSTARS website until
sometime in March. The second All Red Stars Gathering is being organized
by Drew (and maybe a few others like Barry) so let's hope he comes back
in time to help pull this thing off.
Personally, having created organizational websites and organized similar
events for other organizations in the past, I can appreciate the amount
of work and dedication that goes into this.
With this in mind I would like to take this opportunity to bring to your
attention once again the following:
The second All Red Stars Gathering is going to be held at Castle Airpark
(KMER) in Atwater CA from May 7th to May 11th.
Let me say it again!!! MAY 7th TO MAY 11th !!! .....mark your calendars
and plan to attend!
Visit the following ALL RED STARS link and register!

PS.... I'll be there to personally frag any "cheese eating surrender
monkeys" with guts enough to engage in a little ACM!
