Don, A question. How many hours did you get from your M14-PF before it
needed this FWF maintenance? How hard did you run it? I have 725ttsn on my
M14P (360 hp) in my Sukhoi. Flown mostly @ 100% in Unlimited. With no
indications or thoughts of overhaul in the foreseeable future. I've
wondered about the ruggedness of the PF. I'd be interested in your cost of
overhaul if you would care to share it- off list is fine. If it would cut
your costs you might think about having your vendor make kits for sale for
those of us who would also like to replace hoses. I haven't heard of hose
kits available. Thanks, Rick
Rick, sorry can't help. The questions below refers to a new installation in
a Murphy Moose Amphib.
Hi All,
We are into the firewall forward of our M14-PF.
A couple of questions.
1) In the engine compartment it looks like we have the option of using
standard Aeroquip 303 or the stainless outer braid 601/AE701 hose. The
stainless runs about twice the cost. Opinions?
2) What gets firesleeved? I assume all fuel and primer lines. Do all the
oil and case venting lines get sleeved as well?
3) If a hose gets firesleeved what does the stainless covered hose buy you?
4) Do the Yaks use an Oil-Air Separator? A good idea to use one? Which to
purchase?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

I tried .. the form failed and said:
"Form could not be processed due to the following errors:

What's that all about?

Yaksters;
I'm getting some conflicting advice when it comes to paint selection for
my 52. I know enough to choose a flexible paint since we have cloth
control surfaces. It's my understanding that a poli-urethane is the best
selection (i.e. Imron is one brand of poli-urethane although an
expensive one).
What prompts me to write is weather or not to use a one step process
that doesn't require a clear coat or to use the two part process that
does. Any sage out there want to enlighten us laymen on the intricacies
of paint selection?

Hal,
Have you thought about just hiring someone to fly the plane for you and putting
a nice lounge chair in back to ride in?
When Buck Bender has flown with me he has done a much better job than any autopilot.
However, he's not always availabe!

I feel like I'm reading an inventory system number instead of a type
identifier....

My Cherokee was painted 7 years ago using Acro-Glo. Still looks
like new mostly. There are a few nicks from gravel on leading edges
(I still don't understand why anyone would top an asphalt runway
with tar and gravel) and several flex cracks on the fiberglass cowl.
So I'd classify it as a tough, hard paint but not very flexible.
My yak on order is being painted with PPG.
