The 29th is the first day OSH opens. Since we need 2 days practice and tune up for the Wed 30th arrival and airshow, arriving at MTW on Sunday the 27th or Monday the 28th might work. Is Sergei going to be there again this year? Is there anyone interested in offering their -52 for spin training? I'm desperate for getting thorough spin training (all phases) in a -52.... You will learn a lot from the close nit group and put faces with names from the Yak-list. If people could not fly there airplanes to REDSTAR this should not discourage people from attending. Very informative and fun. The flying is only a small part of REDSTAR....... Think about it. Only a couple weeks left. Hope to see you there...... I really regret that. All indications are that I'll be able to make Oshkosh. Count me in. I particularly prescribe to your following characterization................. I am currently using the Phillips 25W60. I dont think that I really need to use a multigrade here in Fl since our winters are so mild and our summers so hot. My neighbor switched from the Phillips to the 120 in his T6 and said his oil consumption went down dramatically. Ernie ________________________________ Message 11 ____________________________________ Time: 06:00:34 PM PST US From: "Frank Haertlein" Subject: Yak-List: Flat Black Cowling Top --> Yak-List message posted by: "Frank Haertlein" Yakkers; A lot of you guys know the top of the cowl on the 52 is painted flat black. It's obvious this is to keep glare to a minimum and/or to make it less noticeable. The problem is I visited my local paint store to get some good flat black paint and there isn't any to be had. I've got to go with a primer of some type to get a flat paint. This brings me to the question........what kind of paint have others used to paint the top of their cowls? Frank N911OM PS Again, sorry about my "diatribe". It wasn't meant for the list. Still, it's surprising how many wrote off list to voice their agreement. ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 06:49:02 PM PST US Subject: Re: Yak-List: Oil From: ron wasson --> Yak-List message posted by: ron wasson on 4/24/03 7:50 PM, Ernie at ernest.martinez@oracle.com wrote: > Ernie My CJ has 350 hours with aeroshell 120. It uses the same amount no matter the oil. No filter also means oil changes every 25 hours per the factory. 17 quart oil changes add up. Multi is expensive and I believe only worth it in cold climates. There is a small CA study that recommends multi in radials for reduced wear. They sell flat black paint. It is basically jet-glo in flat. I know 'cause this is what color my plane is. :) Wes On Thu, Apr 24, 2003 at 06:00:31PM -0700, Frank Haertlein wrote: > This brings me to the question........what kind of paint have others > used to paint the top of their cowls? > > Frank > N911OM
