--> Yak-List message posted by: "Mark Jefferies" <mark@yakuk.com> With regard to the below some very sensible and I am sure "cures" have been mentioned. My favourite is that at the high manifold pressures are causing the mag to break down, so my two penith worth!! check the HT transfer pillar and carbon pickup. If no traces of arcing can be found the coil could be at fault. So the next thing to do is change the mag. If the aircraft is wired as per factory new the mag will be:- 2 right, rear ie nr 2 mag is right side and rear plugs. Observations. Russian 5mm HT wire becomes brittle and cracks after about 15 years. Once cracked a easier route for the sparks is to earth and not the plugs, this is especially true at high manifold pressures. Ramp check of mags is only indicative of plus all working if 70% is used. ie relatively low manifold pressure. At annual inspection what we do is run against chocks at 800mm and pull pitch to 70% then check the mags, this will give a good indication as to the integrity of the mags, leads and plugs. BTW, don't forget the 70$ IR heat detectors find duff plugs & leads instantly. The Russian had a life of 5 years for this item, now you can see why if the Russian life's are recognised you will have a reliable aircraft. That's why we sell Fully overhauled aircraft and not IRAN. A full overhaul is $30,000 if anyone is interested. YAK UK. Thank you with your former advices but I continue with the problems I check magnetos and propeller at 70% without problems. But when I increase to 80% and try to increase the admision pression to more or less 750 the powers goes down. If I reduce the admision presion the power recover 80 %. The problem always appears at the same pressure. It is imposible to get more than 80% or more pression. Is this a problem with the turbocompresor ?? Thank you Jesus EC-IAQ

A group I belong to, the Cascade Warbirds, will have about 21 planes - including my solo CJ - doing flyovers as she nears the dock. Would have loved to have had a four ship or two! > > Cheers, > > Hal
