Is anyone going to this Fly-In who would like to fly a Yak 50 to Houston afterwords?
(qualified in a 52 and lots of TW time or similar).
Please contact me off list if interested.

Does anyone on the list know what is typically found on a Housai 285 hp engine
at first overhaul?
In other words, are there any of the components such as valves, cylinders, gearbox
parts that are
guaranteed to need complete replacement or are the engines "typical" and a
complete teardown might show that a valve job, new rings, cylinder honing, new
gaskets and seals
etc. might get the job done right back to spec? I hear that the 285 is a fairly
robust engine and given
proper care throughout it's life, there isn't much that is terribly prone to give
out or cause general
grief. Anyone have any different opinions ? Thanks.
