Rick, That's because the emg bottle is ground charge ONLY for enhancing safety
reasons. Take a look at the schematic. I further suggest that ALL CJ's are updated
at the next annual to the YAK 52 emg system of separating the 2 circuits.
Gives greater redundancy. Again, this was changed on the Y52 to that of the earlier
YAK11, YAK 18, Yak 18A, Yak 50. I suspect because of the type of accident
that happened in Australia 2 years back. Manufactures learn from experience!!
Do owners?? Some how if it costs money I suspect they don't :))
MJ.
The emergency bottle on my Yak 52 has a slow leak and I just today noticed (I usually
just fill it on the ground before flight) that the engine pump isn't filling
the bottle in flight. I am guessing that the 2 are somehow connected (sticking
valve between the pump and the bottle?) but was hoping one of you smart
guys might have some insight into my problem. Thanks.

I have never owned a plane before but have decided that I would like to
purchase a Yak 52. Any suggestions on how best to proceed? What features
should I look for? What should I look out for? Any and all advice would be
appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

Best advice,
You get what you pay for. I know that this is obvious but with no knowledge
you should buy from someone with a track record in the industry. This is a
small community and bad experiences spread faster than Montezuma's revenge
on a Spanish holiday resort.
Some names from my experience.
I bought my first Yak from Mark Jeffries in the UK. It is a beautiful
aircraft and I never had a problem with her.
When I came to the US, with more knowledge, I bought privately and she is a
wonderful aircraft. She was originally imported by George Coy in VT. I have
had many dealings with George and have always found them to be reliable and
very good. I have also had dealings with Carl Hayes in San Diego. He and
Jill are also very knowledgeable and I have always found them a pleasure to
do business with.
There are very many people out there who will offer you deals on wheels.
Trouble is that turning these deals into deals on wings can be expensive.
I think my advice is to trust those who know. They have their reputations at
stake and it is certainly in their interest to provide you good service. Any
of the folks above will do you proud. It just depends where you live.
When you get your bird I can recommend Tom Johnson at Cannon Aviation
insurance, a fellow Yak owner, he loves these birds as much as we do.
Not much specific engineering help but, I feel, as important a bit of advice
as telling you to check all bulletins are up to date. If you buy from a good
source they will be.

Hi Mark;
Would you be kind enough to enlighten us CJ owners with some further
information re: your advice to modify the emerg. charging circuit.
I had not heard of the accident you mentioned, would you please expand on
that.
Many thanks;
Walt

We have found the problem.
When we pushed the primer the powers went up.The primer was well and this seems
to be a gasoline problem.
We checked all the filters and at the end we changed the carburator.
After that the engine runs well. Probably there was anything wrong there.
The mechanics told something about an anerobic sensor, but I dont know what is
this.
Thank you for all your cooperation.
