I was under the impression that we, the people of the United States, were
above espousing hate. And here we are castigating the entire muslim
religion because a few wacko extremists have attacked us. How come no one
here is boycotting all Christians? After all, Timothy McVey, the terrorist
bomber who killed over a hundred people in Oklahoma City, was a Christian.
Certainly if we use the same logic we should be.
Oh, and the Japanese who attacked us at Pearl Harbor were Shinto Buddhists.
Don't you think that we should go back and retroactively wipe the world
clean of Shinto Buddhists? After all, they attacked us once so you can
never know.
I have muslim friends. They raise their children, work hard to get ahead,
and generally share the same dreams and desires that the rest of us share.
The only difference I can see is that they call God "Allah" while others
call God "Jehovah," "Yaweh," "Jah," etc. Gee, even these names sound a lot
alike.
The First Amendment in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution states:
"Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances. "
Freedom of Religion is the *VERY* *FIRST* individual right guaranteed under
our supreme law. Do you not see the importance of this?
I am ashamed of those of you who would circulate this or any other document
that promotes any kind of attack on people because of their religious belief.

I can't recall the name of the shop but it is one of the top big round
engine OH shops and they use 25W60 even for break in. It might be
worth a call to Phillips...

Great paint scheme Frank. I just forwarded it to Doc Kemp, who recently
ordered an overhauled 52 from me. The paint scheme will be very close to
yours. The only difference will be the wing tips and horizontal surface
tips. They will be yellow to match the cowling ring.

BRIAN: THANK YOU!
I have been a casual student of the world's religions for many
years, (am not a member of any formal religion--my "church", such as it
is, is in the clouds or forests), but I know of not one single honest
religion that condones a single one of the acts perpetuated in the note
addressed. Those instances are a vile corruption of "religious faith"
perpetuated by TERRORISTS, carried out by stupidly nave imbeciles who
have been brainwashed by those terrorists. To blame those acts upon any
religion, simply because that is what the TERRORISTS are using as their
supposed basis, is to comply with the exact hate that the terrorists are
hoping to generate.
All these terrorists shout to the heavens that "GOD (using their
individual names for him) WILL REWARD US!" Yes, that I do believe.
And I sure wouldn't want to be in their shoes when he does.
Don't destroy or chastise all the good, truly religious people,
regardless of the name of their faith, in the world by trying to stamp
them with the hate that the terrorists are promoting. That IS NOT what
their religion teaches. It is MEN that teach hate, not religion. That
is a CORRUPTION of their religion, not a following of it.
On a further note, our constitution guarantees separation of
state and religion. I don't think this stamp is justified, simply on
those grounds.
And furthermore, this kind of discussion has no place on this
board.

We had a museum opening this weekend on our airport in Northern
Illinois(C77). There were 8 T6's, 9 Stearmans and a paltry 2 commies, my Yak 52
and a CJ 6.
One of my neighbors said that we had a nice 2 ship going but it just didn't
compare to the multi-ship formations that the North American and Stearman boys
flew.
Where were all the other Yaks from Illinois?

Well, my first airplane has now come and gone. I'm safely back from
Colorado where I dropped off the Gherkin and picked up the I-3. The
journey took two days longer than planned because of weather, but all in
all it was a good trip.
I'll write up a full account at a later date, but I'll summarize my
thoughts here:
-funny how grown men get attached to metal flying machines. It was a
difficult moment to say goodbye to the old gal. I learned most of what
I know about flying at her controls. It was not easy to walk away
after 3 years, over 400 hours, and taking her from plain Jane to
Homecoming Queen.
-The I-3 is an *animal* of an airplane. I look forward to being a good
enough stick to utilizing all of its performance. Being airborne in 300
feet is exciting...
-I'm so used to taxiing the CJ it was fun to watch someone else learn
that it's not as easy as it looks.
-Cross country in a short wing aerobatic plane sucks. 130 knots and 1.5
hour legs are bad enough, but add feeling EVERY stinkin' bump the entire
way and it's not something I want to ever do much of.
-Cross country in a light airplane is cool...you see places and meet
people you'd never dream of before you left on that trip.
-It's amazing what 7700' MSL and 90 degrees does to airplane
performance. The I-3 felt like a Decathlon...I can only imagine what a
Decathlon would feel like there.
-Phoenix in the summer is hot. Phoenix in the summer inside a clear
bubble canopy and very little ventilation...who needs a sauna?
-Flying for 5 days straight, cross country and alone, is about my limit.
-Flying is fun, but there's nothing that comes close to the feeling of
seeing the excitement on your 5 month old's face when he sees you for
the first time in 5 days...except maybe when he falls asleep in your
arms a few hours later.
Cheers,
Barry

to tell them to
contact Vernon Ricks whom sent it to me as I was writing a post for
Yak-list. I addressed the wrong one. Get over it.........
Back to Yak stuff and flying. Had a great 6 hour flight today in a Archer
to pick up an new owner of Mucus. (Yak 52W with 400 HP). Great plane got to
see old Yak friends and dog fought for an hour. Great day until I saw the
computer messages.
Moving on to my fun Yak flights.............
