Does he want to buy new one's, also can the Chinese chutes be repacked here
in the U.S. are they legal to use here.

and a valid use of this mailing list. My earlier comment was meant to suggest
that the private negotiations should be taken into private e-mail, not

Jim,
I have no knowledge about the regs on using a foreign chute, I simply feel a
bit more secure with a US made chute strapped on my butt. I think he was
looking for a set of used seat packs.

I do have to admit that my choice of words was poor, and for that I
apologize. I guess business and the perception of American pilots are both
a bit different in in AK's homeland. I had several pvt emails with AK and

From my understanding, chutes must be certified, by the FAA kinda like
airplanes. For example I have the original Russian chutes in my L-29 and
they arent legal, but I can keep them in my airplane becuase they're
considered part of the seat assembly. I was able to find a guy in Fl, who
actually re-packs them. I dont know how similar the chinese chutes are to
the russian ones.
