Walt, the manual we were supplied with our CJ only goes to page 191 and (obviously)
does not have the prop torque listed.
What I am worried about is what other vital information we are missing?Trouble
is wedon't know what version of the manuals we have! Could you advise me if Pg
191 has aperformance graph and other performance data on it? This might help
tie up some loose ends!
I assume we can get the rest of the manual from somewhere - Doug perhaps?

Well, just when I thought the FAA paperwork was going to go
rather smooth for my move, the local FSDO must have
appointed a newbie to learn the ropes. My A/C has been
flying 8 years over here on Chicago FSDO restrictions but
now my CJ is in the Orlando FSDO. Has anyone been required
to submit a copy of their "inspection program identifying
the person responsible for scheduling and performing the
inspections"?

Have you looked at the on-line manuals at http://www.cj6.org/usefuldocs.html? Most everything is in there.
And to those of you who have had difficulty in the past looking at them, I have
posted a link to a new TIFF viewer I found on the aircraft engine history site
posted by Tom Johnson. This is a browser plug-in that allows you to view multi-page
TIFF image files right in your browser.

Hi Craig,
IAW the latest FAA Order 8130.2E, the paragraph your newbie person is adhering
to is:
c. Base of Operation. When an aircraft=92s base of operation is changed or there
is a transfer of
ownership, the owner/operator must notify the local FSDO having jurisdiction
over the area in which the
aircraft will be based. The owner/operator will provide the local FSDO with a
copy of the inspection
program identifying the person responsible for scheduling and performing the
inspections as well as the
requested proficiency areas.
Would he accept a statement something like: "Annual Condition Inspections of this
aircraft, Nxxxxx, will be performed in accordance with the attached Inspection
procedure (attach your annual condition inspection checklist) and will be
scheduled by (insert your name) as the owner of the aircraft. As stated in FAA
Order 8130.2E, paragraph 142 "142. ISSUANCE OF EXPERIMENTAL EXHIBITION AND
AIR RACING OPERATING LIMITATIONS, b(17), b(18), and b(20), inspections will be
performed by (insert your favorite CJ mechanic's name) or other FAA licensed
mechanic as stated in b(20) and referred to previously.

That requirement is for the cover letter for Turbo Jets, that require a
maintenance program in addition to OPS limitations. Explain that you dont
have a jet and do not require a maintenance program, which is where the
mechanic is specified.

I disagree Ernie. If you read FAA Order 8130.2E, SECTION 8. CERTIFICATION
AND OPERATION OF AIRCRAFT UNDER THE EXPERIMENTAL PURPOSE(S) OF EXHIBITION
AND AIR RACING, Paragraph 136, General, subparagraph c. says:
"c. Base of Operation. When an aircrafts base of operation is changed or
there is a transfer of
ownership, the owner/operator must notify the local FSDO having jurisdiction
over the area in which the
aircraft will be based. The owner/operator will provide the local FSDO with
a copy of the inspection
program identifying the person responsible for scheduling and performing the

This section covers all Experimental Exhibition aircraft, not specific to
any Group or Category unfortunately.

I believe Dennis is correct - what the FSDO is looking for is a
demonstration that a procedure or process exists to get the condition
inspection done. My FSDO guy was perfectly happy with wording very similar
to what Dennis suggested in his first post on this subject. This one seems
pretty reasonable all things considered.

My experience last year was similar to that which Reade had...
In fact, I think my FSDO guy just ASKED who would do the
maintenance...and I let him read the annual condition checklist and he
went away happy..(as if those guys are ever REALLY happy!) ;)

If that's the case then that means that in order to initially certify
the airplane one needs to have an approved maintenance program for the
CJ, and I don't have one but my CJ got its AW cert here in the Orlando
FSDO. Fortunately when I bought my CJ I didn't have to change home base
so I didn't need to do anything. Does anyone out there have an approved
maintenance program for the CJ?? And my ops limitations does not say
that I have to do maintenance inspections according to any specific
maintenance program.
On the other hand my L-29 has an approved maintenance program and my ops
limitations specifically mention that the aircraft must be maintained
according to that program. That maintanence program has a cover letter
which specifies the AI who does the work.

Shachty overhauls are paint and paper overhauls. Believe me I have been in the
business for 12 years and know there work very well. They have to do paper OH
as they don't have the parts!!!
If you blast me on this I will prove it by asking the manufactures to advise the
value of parts sold to them in the last 12 years.
You will have no right of recourse either. Buy an a/c already in USA.
cheers.

Yes Craig,
I got the same thing from the Boston FSDO three years ago.
I handed the inspector a copy of the CJ-6A Maintenance Manual to show that I
had all relevant service information, and identified myself as the A&P who
would be doing the inspections, maintenance and servicing. That satisfied their
request and the new documents were issued promptly.

Jay,
My copy of the manual also has a performance chart (climb speed and time vs.
altitude) on page 191. The last page in my copy is 231.
