--> Yak-List message posted by: "Jorgen Nielsen" <jorgen.nielsen@mweb.co.za> Hi & Thanks Andrew Not discounting the actuator, but by listening closely and feeling around it seems the leak is in the pipes somewhere, certainly inboard of the actuator mechanism. What a hassle! There are the inspection plates around the gear and inboard of the wing, I will have to pull those to track down the leak - didn't have the right tools with me at the time. Anyone else ever have similar problems, some advice would be welcome. regards Jorgen --> Yak-List message posted by: Andrew Dougherty <atdougherty@yahoo.com> Are you sure the problem is in the pipes, I had a leak and isolated it to the up nose gear actuator, I was told that usually the problem is in an actuator, if yours is near the wing root it might be in one of the main gear (port side?), if so you need to remove the actuator, take it apart and replace the seal that is ruptured. Ensure first that the gear is secured down or the plane is jacked up. --- Jorgen Nielsen <jorgen.nielsen@mweb.co.za> wrote: > --> Yak-List message posted by: "Jorgen Nielsen" > <jorgen.nielsen@mweb.co.za> > > Hi Group > > Went to fly my Yak52 today but air was leaking out > faster than the > compressor could put it back in, so no flying for > me. > > This was after about an 1 1/2 hours of effort to > fish out an unknown pair of > sunglasses I found when slapping the fuse aft of the > cockpit on pre-flight, > heard something bouncing around. SUBJ_HAS_UNIQ_ID --> Yak-List message posted by: "Roger Baker" <f4ffm2@adelphia.net> To all Yak List readers: I am sorry to be involved in this mostly useless controversy begun by Mr. Jefferies and then worsened by an exchange of postings between Mr. Jefferies and Mr. Stan Baranov. First, there needs to be a correction posted as to Mr. Baranovs' status and relationship with the Shakty Yak Overhaul Factory. Somewhere in the transmittal process from Mr. Baranov onto the Yak List, the impression was attached to Baranovs' posting that he is the GM (General Manager?) of the Shakty factory. Also, Baranovs message gave the impression that he is an employee of the Shakty factory...probably as a result of his limited command of English. Neither of these impressions are correct. Mr. Baranov is not an employee of the "Shakty Factory". He is a resident of the town of Shakty. He is an independent business man. He contracts with the Shakty factory for overhaul services for the products that he subsequently sells where he finds a market. I am told that he also occasionally functions as a parts finder for the Shakty facility....dealing mostly with the other production factories in Russia. I do not know Mr. Baranov or Mr. Jefferies. I have never met either of them, spoken to either or corresponded with either of them. I know nothing of the history between Baranov and Jefferies. The last two Yak 52s with which I have been familiar that were overhauled at Shakty were contracted through Baranov. They arrived here in the U.S. as contracted; in fine overhauled condition, and on budget. This is a typical (in my experience) result of the factory at Shakty. If there is old, "bad blood" between Jefferies and Baranov; they need to meet in a pub some where and talk it out. Failing that, they maybe need to go out back of that pub and settle it there. But, this forum is not the place to air or resolve their differences. REB

Mr. Baker, [not] resolving differences has always been a popular sport on this list. How else do you propose that we get our entertainment? ; ) You wouldn't happen to be the same Roger Baker with whom I attended school in West Covina, CA, would you? -- Brian Lloyd 6501 Red Hook Plaza, Suite 201 brian@lloyd.com St. Thomas, VI 00802 +1.340.998.9447 - voice +1.360.838.9669 - fax GMT-4

--> Yak-List message posted by: "A. Dennis Savarese" <adsavar@gte.net> More than likely it's a seal in the actuator or a bad flexible hose.
