--> Yak-List message posted by: cpayne@joimail.com Ah yes, there has been plenty of Bad Blood spilled on the 'list over the ages. Owning one of these RedStar Critters seems to bring out confrontation...boys with toys I guess. While I have relished some of the CJ battles in the past, it soon degenerated into nasty name calling and the sort, with hints of deficiencies in one's Maternal lineage.... Now maybe it's the Yak's turn? As my CJ is now a Blood Brother to the Yak with the M14P (NannyYak or YakChang?), I would like to learn more about Who's Who but I'm afraid I need a scorecard. - How many "native" sources are there for reconditioned Yaks? I understand that new ones only come from Aerostar. - Same question for the M14 engine, who builds New engines and who Overhauls? Is it true that certain options are only available through exclusive dealer contracts? Craig "Inquiring Minds Want to Know" Payne

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Drew Blahnick" <aapilot@adelphia.net> Folks, If you live in the Southwest, I've recieved this winter fly-in information: ++++++++++++++ To all, Some of the T-34 guys are having an informal NO HOST fly in formation practice, etc. get together at the Jean, NV airport (0L7) this will be the third year for the group at Jean. Jean is about 20 miles south of Las Vegas on I-15 and is walking distance (via a lighted sidewalk) from the Goldstrike hotel Casino. The dates are Friday Oct 31 through Sunday Nov 1 2003 they have rooms reserved at the Goldstrike approx. $19 through $39 depending on the day. The normal schedule (not cast in concrete) Friday formation practice, arrivals Sat mass fly out to Beatty, NV (BTY) for fly by of yearly young eagles event (scouts). The Jean airport is a Sport Aviation airport with a lot of uncontrolled airspace in every direction except north (Vegas area). The weather is generally excellent the first weekend in November. T-34's & Red Star (CJ's & Yak's) are coming...... ++++++++++++++++++++ Drew Drew Blahnick Cell310-386-9181 "Communism: Lousy Politics - Excellent Airplanes"

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Gus Fraser" <fraseg@comcast.net> What ! Brian went to school? See this is a great informative list... :) only kidding Brian. Gus As far as Craig's request for suppliers etc etc maybe this is one for All redstar (or whatever it is now called) a site where suppliers can go and post services BUT we get a chance to comment on the level of service and quality from each supplier. Kind of like the Ebay star rating system. --> Yak-List message posted by: Drew Eginton <deginton@marketswitch.com> You're right; they will not resolve their differences here. I doubt they have any desire too. Other people will read the exchange, make their own minds up, and act accordingly. This is a very good thing. I think the Net improves information flow, which is invaluable in commercial circumstances. I appreciated the exchange very much, and think it would be extremely harmful to impose some sort of "no confrontational evidence" rule. That just means people won't be intellectually honest, and poseurs will get a free pass. --drew Yak-50 N150YK > If there is old, "bad blood" between Jefferies and Baranov; they need >to meet in a pub some where and talk it out. --> Yak-List message posted by: "David Stroud" <davestroud@rogers.com> Giday Gents and sorry to intrude one more time. I'm just about to commit to the purchase of the Housai 285 for my Fairchild project. I posted a request to the list a few months ago about the suitability of a normally cowled Housai being subjected to a free air experience for the sake of some authenticity in my project. I am grateful for the reponses, which ranged from .....don't go there..ya can't do that, to .....it'll probably work anyway and then from the very sunny South...give it a go and let us know how it does. Approx. anyway. So, I'll try one more request herewith and ask the same advice again. Please, if anyone has any particular knowledge of such things, could they please advise if a normally cowled engine such as the Housai 285 hp model from a CJ-6 could be operated successfully in a non cowled environment. I've got to make a move on an engine and I'd like to go "ultra modern" with my radial. Thanks again and sorry to intrude. You've got a good list. --> Yak-List message posted by: "Drew Blahnick" <aapilot@adelphia.net> Folks, Although ICAS won't be publishing their firmed up 2004 schedule until after their Dec organizers meet, we are suggesting the following dates for the 2004 All Red Star convention; Wed May 19 - Sunday May 23 Feel free to e-mail me directly if you know of a major western regional event on that weekend... Once again, the first three days would be geared for FAST and ACM. We have waivered airspace and full FAA/County support so the weekend should provide a new dynamic to the event for those of you with 800 or lower cards... Look for the Oct issue of pilot journal magazine on the 2003 event and your association. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thanks, Drew Drew Blahnick YPA/RedStar Pilots Association Cell310-386-9181 www.yakpilots.org "Communism: Lousy Politics - Great Airplanes"
