And just where in Oz are you when you are turned over down under? I live near
Portland, Oregon and would enjoy having you stop by on one of your trips. Oregon
is known for its great CJs, wonderful micro breweries, world class wines and
outstanding flying environment. And friendly people, of course!

Yakkers:
Just got the name-change ballot and have a question. I know I should go
through proper YPA channels but this forum seems appropriate. The problem is
with names vs. abbreviations.
Are choices 1 & 2 typo's? Red Star Pilot's Association should be RSPA.
Choice #2 would be RSAOA., consistant with #s 3 & 4.
Calling it RPA lends it to being the "Red Pilots Association", too much like
"The Red Army" for my taste.
If keeping a 3 letter acronym is that important then we need to go with Red
Star Association. This would eliminate alienating all the non-pilot
enthusiasts out there.
Sorry if I missed the debate on this but I need to know before doing a
write-in.

My apologies for the previous posting. I wrote it months ago and it laid in
the bowels of my computer until today. Don't know what happened
(computer-illiterate). Sorry.

Egon et al.
I lived in Australia for years....The toilets really do flush
anti-clockwise. I've learned it's because you're looking at it upside
down :)
Don't believe it? Grab a globe of the earth and while looking at it from
the north pole down spin it anti-clockwise. Then, while the globe is
still spinning, lift it above your head and look at the direction it's
now spinning (clock-wise). Water going down the drain is spinning in the
same direction regardless of where you are on the earth (clockwise in
northern latitudes and anti-clockwise in southern latitudes). It's your
perspective that changes. This this due to coriolis force. Brian Lloyd,
you want to expand on that one :)

PS, This was brought to you in the spirit of continuing education......
PSS, I'm not flying right now due to lack of gill louvers. As learned
from experience, the engine can get too cool in winter and low oil
pressures are the result. Temps on the ground were just below freezing.
I went from a nominal 5 on the oil pressure scale during climb down to 3
with temps just under the green after I went to cruise at 7500. Lesson
learned......flying without louvers here in the Mojave Desert is OK in
the summer but when the temps are freezing....don't go without them!
PSSS, Anyone ever notice the slight directional creep when going in a
northerly direction and then what seems the opposite when going in a
southerly direction?

I hope your gill louvers heal up and that you'll be OK soon--living
upside down can be frustrating, even if you think you are used to it.
I spent some time in Christchurch, NZ and a few days at McMuddie
Station (summer). Simple things, like your poop won't go down the
toity, because it's the wrong way, can wear you down--luckily, there's
Fosters.
