I had my model '52 made in the Philippines too.........its a terrific and
faithful representation of my own airplane save for one 'little'
error.....vis-a-vis....the left gear is folded back as in a normal '52 and
the right gear is folded forward as in a normal '50 !or '52TW.
I guess the modeller was hedging his bets, safe in the assumption that at
least 50% was correct.
Happy Christmas to all Listers

More on the subject of Avionics rumors: I have also heard
that the Microair radio is being dropped by some American
distributors due to the long turn-around time for repair and
resulting angry customers.
Any truth in this tale?

Sounds very logical Craig. I had to have my Microair transponder
repaired/replaced (under warranty) and although they cross shipped a
replacement, the airplane was still down for over a week. I must give them
credit though, they were very sensitive to the situation and thus the cross
ship. What they really need is a US repair center. The managing director
assured me they are working on that problem because they know it is having a
major impact on sales in the US. The next thing they need to do is get
their VHF working on 24/28V instead of only 14V which requires adding a 28
to 12 volt voltage converter. The transponder does work on 28V.

Dear Listers,
Pacbell is suppose to be working the Matronics connectivity issue this
morning. Intermittent connectivity is still a issue although things are
better than yesterday. They will probably be doing some intrusive testing
on the line later today which will disrupt connections during the test.
More information as it becomes available!
Thanks for your patience.

Subject: | Cyl temps and fuel flow (EDM-700 9c) |
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Robert Mortara" <rob@robinhill.com>
Phil and I just installed a edm-700 9c in our CJ.
I have found # 3 cyl is the hottest with # 6 close behind. The other cyls
read 35-40 deg cooler. If the factory gauge reads 150 c the Jpi shows 365
cyl temp and with the factory gauge at 175 # 3 jumps to 420. In other engine
applications I always try to keep the hottest temp lower than 400 should I
continue doing so with this engine? Also note the temp probes are on the
spark plugs which seem to read 10-20 deg higher.
Some questions for the group?
How do I identify # 3 cyl or other cyls on the engine?
Could some baffling be missing?
Has any on else checked the individual temps and found the same data?
As for leaning I have found the engine burns 4-5 gals per hr while taxiing
with the lean mixture 1/2 way. The cj will taxi fine (warm engine) 2.8 to
3.4 gph which I think its better for the plugs and valves.
On take off I see 30 to 31 GPH fuel flow now I know why to pull the mixture
back after several 100 ft.
The engine also has relatively even fuel/cyl with only 100 degrees EGT
spread per cyl.
Also in cruse 2000 rpm and 650 on the manifold the jpi lean function can get
slightly below 13 gph at appx 20 deg lean of peak.
Has any one ran their engine lean of peak for extended time?
It appears that more efficent fuel management could significantly improve
the CJ range with out extended tanks.
I also have the data logging function if any one is interested in seeing
some actual data.
Phil and I plan on doing some additionl lean testing at different altitudes
and throttle settings and share that data

Don't think that's a station you should admit to listening to around
these parts, Blitz! Geez, what is it with you Bay Area folks? First,
Willie Brown, then Johnny Bin Walker, now Blitz listening to NPR. Is it
the acid rain in the north bay, or what? :)
Merry Christmas everybody....left wingers included. :)

That's not all, he listens to NPR while driving his Toyota Prius hybrid with
personalized "CJ*6A" plates! Our squad has taken up a collection to replace
his single cylinder Briggs & Stratton with a full-blown, Chrysler big block
hemi.
