Gang,
Just received a one in a million....an unsolicited email I like. It's a calendar
of
aviation events, and it's pretty cool/convenient. It came from
www.flyguides.com....might want to check it out.

OTOH, if you reply to this sort of thing it encourages them to continue sending
SPAM. Any company that ever sends me spam is immedately out of the running for
ever getting business from me.

Hi
I have two frozen gyro compasses in my Yak 52. The main system (behind
the rear seat) is powered and indicating the correct magnetic heading
but the front and rear instruments are frozen in both slaved and free
mode??? The signal is not getting through, or maybe power is not
getting to the instruments. They were working fine up until three days
ago and then just froze.
I have checked the AC fuses (on the floor behind the back seat) as well
as the main fuse board. I don't know too much about them but all seems
to be order there.
Any ideas welcome as wiring diagrams are a bit of a mystery to me.
Thanks
BJ

I would bet money that your problem is the leveling mercury switch in
the head. This is the most common reason why these things fail and, as
we say in England they are like rocking horse s$%t, damn hard to find.
Sorry not to be more help than that. Remember if you take it apart that
these are hermetically sealed and I would suggest getting some nitrogen
in there when you seal it back up again. If you want to prove it then I
suggest swapping the switches between the units and see if the fault
transfers.
BTW, I asked the question last week, what part of a Yak 52 electrical
system does not work unless the engine is running ? The answer is the
stall warning heater it gets its power direct from the generator, see
what happens when your fuse box gets an attack of the china syndrome,
the silver lining is that you learn something.

Hi All
Anyone ever fiddle with the standard AH? Play with the adjustment? I
have problem with mine, it moves in right direction (in other stays
still) but is way out of alignment. I have spare damaged unit I took
apart to check for adjustment possibilities, and have found what looks
like a couple of adjustment screws.

Flyguides.com is SPAM...? Er, ah, I went ahead and made one
of the flyouts today on their list. I'm sorry if I had a
good time. Both my local UL Chapter (That's right
Ultralights, we are all just 1 medical away..) and a Mooney
group showed up at Sebring for breakfast at the start of
Race Week.

For all you YAK-55 drivers out there, a short note to let you know I have
ordered 50 "Anytime, Baby!" patches with Velcro backing from American Patch
& Emblem Company http://www.americanpatch.com/ ... hope to have them within
about seven weeks.
A picture of the patch is
at:
http://www.matronics.com/enclosures.html/william%40netpros.net.03.13.2004/
I'm setting the price at $10.00 per patch + $2.50 S&H to USA locations.
Overseas S&H will be ICB. If I could get a good translation into Russian,
with the Cryllic fonts, I may change the order to use that instead of the
English script ... but I'd need help getting the right translation ...
Let me know if you'd like patches? And if you would vote for English or
Russian? I have a PayPal account of william@netpros.net ... money orders
are OK too.
