--> Yak-List message posted by: "Mark Jefferies YAK UK Ltd" <mark@yakuk.com> When the carbon pile get to the end of its life it will over volt. --> Yak-List message posted by: Edwin Curry <EACurry@ev1.net> The overvoltage relay keeps triping on my Yak 52. I have tried a friends voltage regulator and the problem is still there. I can reset the overvoltage relay and start the engine. Around 50% rpm the voltage rises above 29 and trips the relay. Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong? I know the borrowed regulator was working fine in the other Yak. There is a voltage adjustment screw under your left arm in the front cockpit. I have tried adjusting this with no effect on voltage what so ever. Does anybody have any ideas? --> Yak-List message posted by: "A. Dennis Savarese" <adsavar@gte.net> Most likely, the problem lies inside the gray box on the firewall. The large relay in the upper left hand side of the box has a set of contacts that sometimes do not open due to corrosion or arcing. You may want to remove this relay and check the contacts under the little cover inside the big relay.
