Well, coming from an old friend like you it has to be legit so I will be sending
it to you in an attachment. The attachment uses UTF-8 encoding so be sure to

Hence the reason Matt manually approves subscription requests. The point being
to avoid spammers and trolls as much as possible. No system is perfect.

What a great idea ... no ... wait, the Matronics list does that already by mailing
me the posting.
I am sure you are doing a great job. I am just concerned you are going to fragment
the community and since we are all a bunch of rugged individualists, we need
all the commonality we can muster.
As I suggested, rather than reinventing the wheel why not incorporate what already
exists and is maintained. As Drew and Barry have discovered, getting people
to actually work on this is tough. You are obviously willing to work but I
suspect that with RPA you have more things on your electronic plate than you
know what to do with. Why not just let the yak-list stand as the "official" RPA
comm channel and focus your energy on other areas. Yeah, I know, you have
already blown a bunch of time getting this to work and you want to see people
use it. I would feel the same way. But that isn't necessarily what is best for
the community.

Agreed on all points. And perhaps an international view...I don't
belong to RPA and probably never will, unless we start a South African
chapter, but we already have some things underway and that is separate
discussion.
The Yak list is currently international, I see posts from guys all over
the world, it would be a shame to see the list becoming fragmented.
When I get posts that have no bearing on me (regional activity) I use
that great DEL key, its no problem. Even then, some are just good fun
to read anyway. Most posts I read, a lot of times it leaves me
laughing, it's a great list. I have learnt a lot, people have really
helped me on several occasions, and from time to time I hopefully give
something back.
In summary, I would hate to see things happen that detract from the
value I get from the list, and my view is that new lists will most
definitely do that, even if created for specific subjects.

Low Oil Pressure
Could be a variety of things, but I would suspect some form of problem inside the
oil tank - rotating pick-up jammed; old oil bottle "rings" left inside; pipes
slightly blocked; the "oil pocket" filter slightly blocked etc.
The froth/bubbles on the dipstick tends to be normal.

At Sun&Fun this year, a new tradition was started. Traditions are good.
They are a coherent thread each member of an organization can lay claim to. They
are born sometimes in the heat conflict to become part of the units history
or they born in peace laying claim that unit kept it.
RedStar is new. But it was started in the 100th year of aviation. And no
matter what airplane you fly, your experience is due directly to people before.
Everything we do in aviation has been done by someone ahead of us. The more
famous names we all know, but some only a few of us know. In all, it's their
shoulder we stand on.
The new tradition is:
Anytime RPA members are gather for food and drink around a table.
Any member may make THE Toast.
He will tap his glass with a KNIFE (the simple of strength) and stand up.
The toaster will say "Here is to those on whose shoulder we stand. Orval
Wright" (He was the first to fly).
The man on his immediate right will always say "Wilber Wright" (The copilot
always sits on the right therefore the man on the right is part of the toast
and Wilber was the second to fly. (If this is RPA helicopter bunch, it will be
the man on the left)
The next man to the right than raises his glass and states a name of a person
of his choice whom has contributed to aviation.
It can be an engineer, pilot, or whom ever contributed to aviation. It
cannot be a politician ever. (They never had an original idea)
The toast proceeds around the table to the right until it reaches the
starting point.
NO NAMES CAN BE REPEATED ON THIS TOAST NOR THOSE TOASTS THAT MAY FOLLOW LATER
IN EVENING EVENTS. (Automatic buying the round)
A name proffered may be "Challenged" in route. If the person cannot provide
enough informational details to support it, the assembled members may direct
him to buy that round of drinks.
When the names have been stated each may consume his/her drink.
We did this at Sun&Fun several times and had great fun.
So RPA members study up on your aviation history or - bring money.

MTV-3 props can have the -21 blades and the McCaulley looking hub. MTV-9
props can have the -27 or 29 new blades.
What is the full model number of the prop? MTV-3-B-C/CL-250-21?? or
something to that effect? What is the serial number also?

caveat emptor and not to poop on anyone's parade. The MTV-3 have a TBO
that is mandatory of 60 months(I'm pretty sure) or 500 hours(just about
positive). I just had my 2 (SU-29 and Yak-55) overhauled by Rocky
Mountain Prop for $3,897. and $3,332.28 respectively. There are two
AD's that may apply - one on the hub (killer cost) and one on the lag
screws in the blades to drive the OH price up.
I have a couple of adapters if anyone needs them.
The brand new MTV-9-260 with-29 blades go for $12,000 or so, with no
ad's and with warranty.
(I don't sell 'em and wish I could afford the 9-29s)
Respectfully, Rick

The next man to the right than raises his glass and states a name of a
person
of his choice whom has contributed to aviation.
It can be an engineer, pilot, or whom ever contributed to aviation. It
cannot be a politician ever. (They never had an original idea)
The toast proceeds around the table to the right until it reaches the
starting point.
NO NAMES CAN BE REPEATED ON THIS TOAST NOR THOSE TOASTS THAT MAY FOLLOW
LATER
IN EVENING EVENTS. (Automatic buying the round)
A name proffered may be "Challenged" in route. If the person cannot
provide
enough informational details to support it, the assembled members may
direct
him to buy that round of drinks.
When the names have been stated each may consume his/her drink.
We did this at Sun&Fun several times and had great fun.
So RPA members study up on your aviation history or - bring money.

RPA, can we get some silhouette stickers made up, in red about 2 inches in
size I think CJ6, T6 & T34 would look real nice just under my canopy rail,
one per recorded victory :)))))))
No need to make any 52 ones because nobody will ever have a need to buy one
of those
Gus
OK so I will say it again, this is sent in GOOD FUN....

Gus-
That's a good idea....
I'd like to expand on the silhouette sticker idea.... sometimes I take
my CJ on "hundred dollar hamburger" runs and could use a burger
silhouette to commemorate the flight.
When I fly into McGeHee's Catfish Restaurant (T40) in Oklahoma, I need
a catfish silhouette.....
I don't do ACM (yet!) so I can't use T6 stickers....but I do come out
the victor when it comes to good catfish!

Howdy y'all,
Now that the fuel island in out of service, we are being forced to pay
$3.34 per gallon off the Western Truck. This is $1.16 per gallon MORE than
we were paying about 6 months ago. With this price increase, it doesn't
take much imagination to see what this is doing to our treasury.
I think that we should increase the amount that we are charging
ourselves per flying hour...at least as long as this big fuel price spike is
happening. It seems to me that the airplanes burn about 16 gallons per hour
on average. With fuel up $1.16 per gallon, that works out to $18.56 per
hour that was going into our treasury to pay for maintenance and so on is
now going to our much loved major oil corporations. We all know that they
richly deserve these windfall profits and that they will probably donate
these excess profits to worthy charitable organizations (e.g. various
political party soft money funds, etc.).
Back to business........should we increase (I hope temporarily) the
price we charge our selves $18 per hour? Is there another
solution....another approach? Let me know, please. Any email suggestions
or comments; please make it a "reply all" thing so that all of us know what
the thinking is.
Thanks,
Roger
