Yak-List Usage Guidelines
******************************************************************************
The following details the official Usage Guidelines for the Yak-List.
You are encouraged to read it carefully, and to abide by the rules therein.
Failure to use the Yak-List in the manner described below may result
in the removal of the subscribers from the List.
Yak-List Policy Statement
The purpose of the Yak-List is to provide a forum of discussion for
things related to this particular discussion group. The List's goals
are to serve as an information resource to its members; to deliver
high-quality content; to provide moral support; to foster camaraderie
among its members; and to support safe operation. Reaching these goals
requires the participation and cooperation of each and every member of
the List. To this end, the following guidelines have been established:
- Please keep all posts related to the List at some level. Do not submit
posts concerning computer viruses, urban legends, random humor, long
lost buddies' phone numbers, etc. etc.
- THINK carefully before you write. Ask yourself if your post will be
relevant to everyone. If you have to wonder about that, DON'T send it.
- Remember that your post will be included for posterity in an archive
that is growing in size at an extraordinary rate. Try to be concise and
terse in your posts. Avoid overly wordy and lengthy posts and
responses.
- Keep your signature brief. Please include your name, email address,
aircraft type/tail number, and geographic location. A short line
about where you are in the building process is also nice. Avoid
bulky signatures with character graphics; they consume unnecessary
space in the archive.
- DON'T post requests to the List for information when that info is
easily obtainable from other widely available sources. Consult the
web page or FAQ first.
- If you want to respond to a post, DO keep the "Subject:" line of
your response the same as that of the original post. This makes it
easy to find threads in the archive.
- When responding, NEVER quote the *entire* original post in your
response. DO use lines from the original post to help "tune in" the
reader to the topic at hand, but be selective. The impact that
quoting the entire original post has on the size of the archive
can not be overstated!
- When the poster asks you to respond to him/her personally, DO NOT
then go ahead and reply to the List. Be aware that clicking the
"reply" button on your mail package does not necessarily send your
response to the original poster. You might have to actively address
your response with the original poster's email address.
- DO NOT use the List to respond to a post unless you have something
to add that is relevant and has a broad appeal. "Way to go!", "I
agree", and "Congratulations" are all responses that are better sent
to the original poster directly, rather than to the List at large.
- When responding to others' posts, avoid the feeling that you need to
comment on every last point in their posts, unless you can truly
contribute something valuable.
- Feel free to disagree with other viewpoints, BUT keep your tone
polite and respectful. Don't make snide comments, personally attack
other listers, or take the moral high ground on an obviously
controversial issue. This will only cause a pointless debate that
will hurt feelings, waste bandwidth and resolve nothing.

Subject: | Over Voltage Problem |
--> Yak-List message posted by: Edwin Curry <EACurry@ev1.net>
Several weeks ago I posted a message that I was having with an Over
voltage Problem with my YAK 52. Yesterday, during a rain out day, I
finally located the problem. I received several good responses to my
message and I an most thankful. I was told that it could be the
regulator, remote voltage adjuster, condenser, reverse voltage relay,
and even the generator. The problem turned out to be a defect that I
feel started at the factory and there was evidence that I found that
support this. I could see places that somebody had been looking for a
problem before. Since I have always had some voltage hiccups this also
supports the factory defect. Here is what I finally found.
Located inside the gray box mounted on the firewall, just inside the
access panel on the fuselage, refereed to in the parts diagram is the DC
Voltage Panel. One of the sides of the remote voltage adjustment wire
goes to the regulator I confirmed continuity there.. The other wire
should have continuity to the bottom left connection on the transformer
located in the upper right corner of the DC voltage panel. At the
factory installed connector that was attached to the transformer there
was a brake inside the insulation. I believe that at the factory, when
the wire was stripped, there was several wires cut in the bundle inside
of the insulation. The connector was soldered to the wire and then
crimped. It worked for a while but eventually due to reduced flow, heat
developed and burned the wire in two inside the insulation. I found
evidence of arching inside the wire with now evidence of a problem from
outside the wire visually. I cleaned the original connector and striped
one quarter of an inch off of the original wire and reinstalled it to
the transformer. I now have continuity to the transformer. Test run
indicates that the remote voltage adjuster now functions properly and
voltage is now nominal.
I posted this message so that if anybody is having electrical ghosts and
feel that the factory wiring looks too good to be a wiring issue, you
should think again. I hope that this has been help to anybody who might
be having an electrical issue. I can tell you that there was a lot of
hours put into finding this ten cent problem.
Good luck and happy flying!
Edwin

I've got an IP who would be willing to help out. I was hoping to do
something sooner though, probably late May early June. Any one interested? I
was figuring Waycross GA.

Guys, Rich Hess and My neighbor, both have agreed to be the IP's for the ACM clinic,
both of them AF fighter pilots. Rich has suggested Memorial day weekend.
I figured we could make it a 2 day thing. He recommended Valdosta GA.
Who's up for it. Also a CJAA buddy of mine would come with his L-29, so I may also
bring my Jet. If guys are willing to spring for the fuel, then you can do
1v1 in Jets also. I've been informed that BFM would actually be safer in Jets
since the turning radiuses are larger, giving you more time to think..........yea
think about the fuel you're burning :)
Let me know if this date will work for you guys.

One of the reason's for pushing an ACM clinic in the SE out until
October/November was to give the RPA time to finish developing a
standardized ACM training program similar to what we have for FAST. We
have an excellent safety record for pilots "graduating" from our FAST
clinics and I'd like to see this for ACM as well. Drew and many others
are currently working on this. We need to get this done before we hold
any formal RPA ACM clinics in the SE.
Any former or current military pilots who would like to help in the
development of the program please contact Drew Blahnick at
aapilot@adelphia.net.
Y'all keep it safe up there.

Good points Brain, but where the aerodynamic neutral point of the airframe is
in relation to the C/G makes big difference in rate of pitch change. I bet
the C/G is closer to the neutral point on the Y-52 than it is on the CJ-6,
giving it an advantage of switching ends before a lot of energy bleeds off.
