Good idea.

Since the EFIS-1 can monitor all the engine parameters I wonder why you chose to
also install the JPI-EDM 700-9C? Greg says that he plans to have aural alerting
for engine perameters in the future so I was planning to go that way. I
want instruments that talk to me so I know what is going on even if I am not looking
at the panel.
I had voice alerting in my RV-4. I could decide if I needed to put my head back
into the cockpit. "Warning -- engine RPM high," just meant I had to pull back
on the throtle. "Warning -- fuel pressure low," meant I burned a tank dry.
Both problems could be solved without ever looking at the panel. A caution
tone requires me to stick my head back in the cockpit and figure out what it is
making noise, not something I want to do while doing ACM or formation.

It should be able to continue to operate even without the magnetometer. Greg admited
that his gyro/accelerometer platform was a full inertial reference platform
and outputs position and heading. Sure the heading will start to drift but
for the time it takes you to let down, it will keep you going just fine. I
don't recall the exact numbers but it seems to me that his IRP drift figures
were comperable to standard precession rates for the crop of iron gyros we fly
behind now ... and it has an MTBF measured in tens of thousands of hours instead
of hundreds of hours.

Funny he didn't mention it when I was there. I made the point about aerobatics
and he shied away from the question by saying it isn't intended to stay up with
an airplane flying acro even tho' I pointed out that the pitch, roll, and yaw
rates are within the rating of the Systron-Donner rate gyros he uses. (When
I started designing an AHRS about 5 years ago I found that Systron-Donner had
the best rate gyros at the time.)

I will ask Randy to call Shane to get any info he can. He sent me a blank panel
cut-out to mark up so I guess he is ready to go on this.

Sure! Put some hard points on your tail and we'll attach some JATO bottles!
Cheaper and easier to replace too! :-) It might not equal the Top Fuel
machine, but it'll sure impress the blazes out of anyone watching!

Scaled Composite's "Space Ship 1" completed a successful manned-flight to 100Km
this morning. Looks like they are well on the way to winning the X-prize.
Wow, when I heard of the X-prize several years ago I was skeptical. Burt Rutan
does it again!

Does anybody have an exploded diagram of the Brake Differential Valve.
Need the drawing with the guts, not the exterior attachment.
Perhaps a page out of the Parts or service catalog that you could email to me as
a PDF?
Please send directly to: tjohnson@cannonaviation.com
