--> Yak-List message posted by: "Mark Schrick" <schrick@pacbell.net> John, You should call 2 GENES Aviation. They have manufactured FUEL COVER caps for Yaks and CJ6's. They are BRAND NEW and work great. Unfortunately, several of us have had to purchase these covers. They are inexpensive also and LOOK just like the old ones you currently (did) have. They also make clean kits, snot value release kits, tail cameras, and all Yak/ CJ parts. Metal FOD KITs (Yak 50 and Yak 52's) that take 10 minutes to install !!!!! Give them a call: South Co. Went for an Independence Day flight in the CJ. Right fuel cover door departed in flight (at some point). Short 20 min flight otherwise uneventful until I approached the plane with the tug to return it to the hanger and noticed that fuel was leaking, at a rapid rate, from the midportion of the wings towards the front. Removed wing strip cover to find that the rubber connector to one of the vent lines had been blown off the line. Then began looking for the cause, which still eludes me. When I blow air from the underwing vent back thru the system, air exits the uppermost of the two vent lines near the right wing tank, but not the other. The lower of the two vent lines (the one that became separated in flight) is full of fuel. When I secure the left wing tank cover and blow air backward thru the underwing vent, gas pours out of the lower vent line to the right tank. Seems like there's a blockage someplace. Any thoughts on 1) Why losing the gas cap cover would cause this or 2) Where the problem is. Will be consulting our mechanic (Thanks for your help on the Holiday, Jim!!!!!!!!) again on Monday. Thanks in advance. John Zecherle

--> Yak-List message posted by: "jay reiter" <jmreiter@adelphia.net> I am working on a CJ6.The cylinder head temperature lead to the rear thermocouple is damaged. There is no color code visible and neither lead is magnetic. In the parts manual 2-15-2 items 14 & 20 the terminal strip studs, the material is listed as NCr10 for one and BMn43-05 for the other. Is Nickel Chrome and Barium Manganese a known thermocouple material? Are they the chemical formula for other trade named thermocouple materials? I am familiar with iron / constantan and chromel / alumel systems in either case one of the leads is magnetic.

--> Yak-List message posted by: "jay reiter" <jmreiter@adelphia.net> Ni-10Cr, Ni-3Mn-2Al-1Si The alloys Chromel-P and Alumel have the respective nominal compositions given above. It apears one of the leads is Chromel. Does the CJ use a Type K -Chromel / Alumel system?
