We have translated the original YAK 50 Dosaaf flight manual describing aerobatics, the tech description and maintenance manuals, these along with the M14P manual are offered on CD, each can be printed. priced at 52 GBP including postage and packing. We accept visa and master card. I hope this offers a valuable service to the YAK community. Its certainly taken a long time to find the original source material. Cheers, mark www.yakuk.com ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:27:55 AM PST US From: "Steve Dalton" Subject: Yak-List: New -29 MT Prop Blades --> Yak-List message posted by: "Steve Dalton" Fellow Yakkers, While at OSH/MTW we had the opportunity to compare the new -29 MT blades to the older -27 blades most of us have on MT props. We used three -52TW's for the test. We used Ski's and my -52TW's with the -27 blades, and Paul Horning's new -52TW with the new -29 blades. All aircraft had the same engine (400 hp) and fuel load (we had just topped off at OSH). Ski had a backseater while Paul and I were solo. We flew close line abreast formation for the tests (Paul in the lead, with Ski and I on his wings). We all set the same power settings and watched to see who was fastest. We left the power set long enough to see the effects. Power settings tested were 1900 rpm/27 inches (cruise), 2400 rpm/32 inches (climb), and 2900 rpm/36 inches (max power). We also tried a climb test with 2400/32 set and a 110 mph climb speed. Result: Absolutely no difference. Ski would drop back a couple feet in a half minute (he had the backseater), but Paul and I flew perfectly side by side. (On the full power test Paul was maybe 1/2 a knot faster, but his tach was reading a little higher than Ski and I.) I'm sure all our gauges are not exactly the same, but I'm also sure all three planes gauges are close enough to show that the new -29 blades don't do much (if anything) to enhance performance on the -52TW. However, the big MT spinner Paul had is really nice. It looks much better on the -52 than the little spinner. Folks, we have two more RPA events (NW/CA and SC) coming up in September, as well as a few listed "general aviation events", please see the online calendar. Event planners, www.rpatalk.com will remain for you to one-time post any last minute critical event info for the crowd to read at leisure... I will post the 2nd qtr newsletter later today at flyredstar... They selflessly support their fellow association pilots every year and deserve a major round of applause...(and the crowd goes wild!) And another big thanks to Herb Coussons and Russ Dycuss for their help putting together yet another MTW/OSH this past week! I've heard a lot of good things from this years Air Venture, thanks to these folks and those of you who pitched in all around, Jim Goolsby, Mike Filucci, Skip, Ski and everyone who jumped in any way...thanks again Note: I've uploaded two documents (PDF) of interest for folks planning on hosting an event, they are in the Event Room under "How to Host an Event" and are a Site Survey Checklist and example itinerary and flight schedule. Both are examples and should be tweaked at will. The site survey checklist is an excellent guide to print and take with you if you are scoping out an airfield for an upcoming RedStar invasion.... You will also find all in-event forms and registration documents needed under the "Helpful Documents" link for download and replication. The availability of all this information is to make RPA event generation as effortless as possible for our member-volunteers... If you have documents you think should be made available under any applicable subject, just upload them in any software format (MS Word, Excell, MS Publisher, MS PPT, etc.) using the "submit article" on left nav table of contents. You must be a current member and logged in to access this tool. We will convert them to PDF and make them available in the applicable section of www.flyredstar.org Drew ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 07:33:01 PM PST US From: D Zeman Subject: Yak-List: Re: MTW-OSH --> Yak-List message posted by: D Zeman OSH had rather good weather this year; flying to and back was nearly uneventful weather wise which is a rarity. The number of planes seemed normal and the crowds possibly down. Of course there was much to see and do as OSH always offers. No report on MTW. At times (once or twice) the Yak/CJ line looked good even spilling into additional space. Yaks models included 52, 50 and 18T; great year! At other times (showtimes) the Yak/CJ line was nearly bare; the Cessna O2s outnumbered them! Sad to see but with MTW happening at the same time, I guess can be expected.
