Wow, 8 gallons per minute. My pump supplys 1.5 gallons per minute and
it works fine. I think you've got it wrong. The tank needs to be
around 8 gallons to have enough for a decent air show routine.

The SU-29 manuals state 1.5 lpm. That is just about what she is putting out, stock.
However, diesel is of visibly lower quality smoke than Corvis oil. What
are you guys using for smoke oil, where do you get it, and how much does it cost?
Usually it is provided and I haven't had to look it up. Thanks, Rick

Your smoke oil should be Corvus, Canopus, or Vitra 13. A viscosity
index of 95, making it just under 5 wt oil, and a flash point of around
370. As the most ideal smoke oil has a low flash point.
Be careful about accecpting what the oil distributor will offer as
cheaper alternatives. We flew an air show this year and the smoke was
making everyone sick so they had to do Sunday performaces without smoke.
This was not a good thing.
Deno and I will use around 7-9 gallons per performance each. I have
never tried Jet fuel and don't believe I would.
All the smoke oil is provided by the air shows we are performing. For
practice we use the above mentioned purchased from a local oil
distributor or buy it off the local air show for what is left over.
Thanks;

Al, you are exactly correct. "Avoid the weather area" is the best advice
anyone can give.
This includes yourself.. if you don't mind. For example.... making
statements comparing fringe Muslim terrorists with fringe Christian
terrorists. That kind of statement simply leads to further disagreement and
the replies it can generate (call this message one of those if you will). I
KNOW that it is your opinion that such a comparison seems fair and logical,
but most people DO feel that way about their own beliefs. And Al... with
respect, I do not agree with yours, which means absolutely nothing other
than... this is simply not the place to discuss it.
For example, I have been everywhere Tim Gagnon listed (Hi Tim!) and I came
away with a completely different perspective, which I am NOT going to
express here.
Let's agree to keep religious beliefs, perspectives, and opinions OUT of the
YAK List entirely. It is an excellent way to make enemies out of close
friends.
R/S,
Mark Bitterlich

The SPAM systems are starting to get smart and sending email to people
ostensibly from people they know. I have received email purporting to
come from friends and the mail was never sent by them.
So, it may be that the email never actually came from Drew.
Still, your admonition is a good one.

After 9 years of owning a Yak 52 I am giving in and selling up.
Hurray I hear some of you say, not so fast, once you go Russian you never go
back. I am getting an I3, kind of an SU29 with metal wings.
Anyway, if you are looking for a 1996 Yak 52 (one of the last batch of
traditional Yaks before the change to the 52W) 450 hours total time and 300
hours on the engine. Fitted with 6 cameras, 15 Gal reserve tank, behind the
px seat, precision software AOA indicator, JPI 450 fuel flow indicator.
If you are interested please contact me off list.
