Troops,
Has anyone out there used the VAL INS-422 VOR/ILS? I like their idea, its
TSO'd, and its cheap. Opinion

I am glad to hear things went reasonably well for you with the

I have not used one myself but I have heard that it works well. It is
certainly convenient for adding ILS capability to an airplane. If you
get one, please let me know how it works.
My personal favorite NAV receiver is the Apollo SL-30. Nothing else
out there come close for performance. OTOH, nothing else even comes
close for cost until you get to the all-in-one nav systems like the
Garmin 430 (which does not perform as well IMHO).

Funny you should mention this today, Richard. I just spent the day
with Vladimir and we discussed the same thing. While blocking the jet
is an improvement in the idle range, it is not the ideal solution. I
will be fine tuning all my jets at annual next month, including the
accelerator jet. Smooth as a sewing machine it will be...

I just had a set of nametags made up by the nametags4u company for my
formation guys. I did it all over the internet and the end product is as
good as any I've seen, reasonably priced and was shipped in good time.
Cheers,

I just put together a checklist and had it printed/laminated at Kinkos. If
anyone has a manual, I'd like to get a copy.

Hi gang,
Just dropped in to post this. While selling my aircraft I have tried to
understand the market, I guess I have worked for Goldman Sachs for too long,
I looked at aircraft for sale and tried to come up with some valuation rules
for a used Yak 52, I am sure that it can be done for other types but I am
not interested in those. I spent all of three hours on this but the variance
from asking price out there seems to bear out.
http://www.gusfraser.com/bluebook.shtml
Obviously every aircraft is unique, all I tried to do was develop a large
ballpark.
Any thoughts ? If you CJ guys want to think about your market using whatever
rules you like, that can be expressed as a formula let me know and I will do
you a blue book.
Gus

Gus;
According to your calculations my plane is worth 50K. If that's all I'd
get for it I'd keep it. With all the work I have in it I wouldn't let it
go for less than 70K and that's on the cheap side. There's got to be
something wrong with your formula.

It is really hard to account for all the special stuff on an individual
aircraft. The only intention with the blue book is to provide a starting
point. The one area that may need a tweak is the age. What do we all think
an aircraft depreciates at ?
Two examples
1. A 1982 Yak with 0 time, spent it's life in the factory holding the door
open, what's it worth ?
2. A 1998 Yak with zero time, got lost on a ship in the atlantic during
shipping, the long shore men just found it. What's it worth ?
Obviously the newer aircraft would be worth more but how much ?
The other thing that is hard to account for is an overhaul. But anyway, it
is just for s*&ts and giggles.
Gus
