Doug Sapp usually has them (new) in stock. They are identical to the
Russian compressor and sheer coupling.

Maybe someone can help. My YAK52 has an American Weight and balance using
the prop as the Datum point. I have the weight information for each wheel.
Left Main 863 Lbs. / Right Main 867 Lbs./ and Nose 755 Lbs. ( Weighted with
full fuel and Oil ) Total of 2485 Lbs.
Does anyone have the distance of the gear from the Russian Datum point so I
can compute the W&B like the factory? I would like to use one of the W&B
programs on the Internet. I don't want to start over and rewrite the
program.

The Russians used frame 5. Just start from the front by the fire wall and
count 5 back. It is the one just in front of the passengers instrument
panel.

Rick,
I have a spare set of radios out of a yak-52. I will need a better
description of the radio to see if it is the same one you are talking about.
Good luck

Troops, and very good people.
Just returned from the Jackson, TN. SkyFest. Mosty of our troops left there
yesterday right after the show, but Craig Payne and I stayed an extra night
and had a free dinner with many of the other performers there. We got a lot of
nice comments about our formation and part in the show. Since there are no
wings on my CJ right now, Bob Langford and I did a co lead with me in the back
seat of his Y-52. He and I have won a trophy or two in formation flying, so
it went really well. I guess us old farts think alike.
Just an observation. While at the autograph booth, both Payne and I noticed
the very nice manners of the kids who came up there looking for autograph. It
was really very noticeable.
The rest of the folks there where really helpful and nice. EXCEPT! The FAA
guy. That is a story in it self and except for the smooth talking Roger
Modglin, (seem to be able to talk himself out of anything) it could have been a
nasty thing.
Anyway the group practice the big formations and expect for a few folks
forgetting which side they were supposed to be on, - that went OK. The show was
almost perfect. One little girl came up to the autograph booth and told us she
really liked the "Sprit" formation. Also I was told when the 'green flight'
did the 'missing man' fly by the crowed actually stood up and was very quite
though the whole flyby.
Just about all our expenses (fuel, rooms, two vans and a lot of food and
drink at the VIP tent) was taken care of by the SkyFest people. They gave us a
room for our briefings and Jeff made sure there was plenty of water on hand.
There was very little if any thing we needed to spend on (unless you screwed up
and needed to prostrate your self to the group by the penitence of buying a
round of drinks). There were a few who needed to do this and alas one needed
only wait.
Early Sunday we made a raid on a group of FedEx reprobates (Jeff own words)
who had prostrated themselves in tents after a night of heavy partying. We
caught 3 J-3s trying to fly formation overhead and trying to defend the airpark.
We woke them up and they will find some toilet tissue amongst the trees and
tents. Ample evidence that they had been had. The weather was perfect.
Clear, cool and calm. I did this in the back seat of Paul Hornick's Yak 52TW.
God! I had a great time.

Sounds like you all had a great time. Maybe you could brief us on the
actions of the FAA person so we can be better prepared, should we run into a
similar situation.
Thanks very much.

Let's see. I think I can make a few suggestions.
1. No close formation
2. No use of air show smoke (at least at air shows)
3. No hiding from the FAA (Like in the autograph booth)
4. No sticking up for you brothers
5. No landing where there is no smoke where there should have been
I'll defer the rest of the suggestions to Pappy..

Yep. That was written in the wavier section I think.

Obscures visibility?
3. No hiding from the FAA (Like in the autograph booth)
Yep. I guess that's where the FAA guy found Terry & Roger. Hiding they were!
4. No sticking up for you brothers
Accuse the rest of us, of not telling or not suggesting that the smoke had
interfered with our landings. "-cause you're all buds."
5. No landing where there is no smoke where there should have been
It did no good to tell him, the smoke just wasn't there, because HE knew it
was.
I'll defer the rest of the suggestions to Pappy..

What a kamugion! An embarrassment to us old farts.
