To all those that took part and especialy the mangment of "All red star" event you did a wonderfull job as viewed from the excelent cut of video on http://www.muzility.com/cgi-bin/viewer.cgi?code=svmtvpub/allredstar I noted that many more CJ folowers were there than YAK's, why is that?
Congratulations on the close formation flying, I see that you have modeled your flying after that of the "Blue Angels", in the UK our formation flying is modeled on that of the "red Arrows" www.yakuk.com/video.asp has a number of clips.
The acm looked great also (not so sure about using the clouds though) Pity the
tape did not show and jet formation and air 2 air, perhaps next year.
We just had formation week in the UK, 2 hawker hunters took part along with YAK's.
Last airshow of the season today at Duxford, 7 spitfire in formation and a/f
beat up. T33, seahawk & Sabre as a jet formation.
congratulations again, lets hope the same team want to arrange another success
next year, its hard work !! bye MJ
Best regards, Mark

WHo out there can describe the thread on the pnematic fittings on out aircraft.
Are they metric NPT or are they something else? What is the size, taper, TPI
etc.
Does anyone know where I could get the taps and dies?

Mark, you said, and I quote "I noted that many more CJ folowers were
there than YAK's, why is that?"
Well, the simple answer is that some people don't want to explore the
full flight envelope. They may even be afraid of it. Hence the choice of
a CJ6.
On the other hand, if you're not afraid to explore the full capabilities
of your aircraft and not afraid of reaching the limits of your own
flying skill then you have but one choice......The YAK-52 :)

Excuse me! OTOH If one wants to explore beyond the next airport, one must
pick a CJ-6. BTW the CJ-6 has demonstrated inverted spins. SAFE, inverted
spins. AND if one needs to explore the realm of high speed flight, one must pick
a CJ-6. The envelope of the Yak may be only as big as the airport traffic
pattern while that of the CJ stretches beyond the horizon - in one leg. :)
AH yes, to each his own.

The threads that are taper threads on a Chinese, Russian, ect. plane are
NPT, the same as Americans use: 1/8-27 and up. The pitch is the same for
all pipe fittings of a given size (no course and fine to worry about). One
notable exception is the air and O2 bottles on L-39s (and perhaps other
planes). If you can find out what that fitting is called, please pass the
info on. I've never been able to identify it, let alone find a tap for it.
It is very long, has more taper than an NPT and appears to be soldered into
the tank after being screwed in and tightened.
I tried some British taps because when I think of oddball threads, I.....
Well, we don't need to go into that. None of the British taps I've tried
are the same as the L-39 O2 tanks.
The flared (straight threads) on an Eastern Block aircraft are fairly normal
metric threads, except they tend to be finer pitch than the same size bolt
would be. A good hardware store will have a metric thread pitch guage that
you can use to find the pitch. Use a vernier caliper to find the diameter
and remember that they are in whole millimeters so round the number you get
to eliminate the decimal. They are available from machinist supply stores.
I hope I answered the question you asked.

Ernie;
I concur with Ron Davis's reply, the pipe threads are the same. I believe
they are an original metric standard (like spark plugs) accepted by all.
The air fittings are 1/8 NPT (National Pipe Taper) and the grease fittings
are 1/8 NPS ( National Pipe Straight).
