--> Yak-List message posted by: "Ernie" <ernest.martinez@oracle.com> Thanks to all for the replies. I'm getting some machining equipment and will be CNC equipped soon with a 3d digitizer so I can reverse engineer parts. I'm going to try and replicate a lot of the common parts on my CJ and L-29 as well as making some impossible to find parts for my neigbors P-40 project. I'm always concerned that one day I'm going to be grounded by some part that I cant find (especially with the jet), so I've decided to make my own. If anyone has got a wish list of things they would liked re-manufactured, I'm all ears. Yeah, well, at this year's ARS the Formation Challenge team from Arizona was called Team Viagra, aka "Big Dicks", so you might want to take it up with those 4 CJ owners! :) > > Paul I have 74 gallons in my CJ...no, not average, but the TW isn't your average -52, either. Lessee, based on a 15 gph burn at my cruise setting of 72% and full throttle my TAS is right around 155 kts., 4 hours plus almost an hour reserve gets me 620 miles and an all but USELESS butt! :) (Many say it starts that way, so nothing lost :) ) I have now been airborne 3.9 (in D. Sapp's plane) and 3.7 hours (in mine) and it is not particularly enjoyable. Useful? Yes, but not exactly fun. Hey, I have a question for the TW owners. Is it true that spins are not recommended with someone in the back seat? That this was never tested at the factory? Thanks! Barry

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Richard Goode" <richard.goode@russianaeros.com> Russian Threads An amusing sideline on this is when I began discussing specifications with Sukhoi for selling Su-26 aircraft, I introduced to them the idea of smoke systems - which they had not thought of before. I produced a UK pump, with "imperial" sizes and threads, saying that they would need to make up appropriate fittings. They went off measured them, and came back saying that these were absolutely standard Russian domestic pipe fittings, ALL of which are in inches/imperial threads for every single water-pipe/tap in Russia! --> Yak-List message posted by: "RV_8 Pilot" <rv_8pilot@hotmail.com> So - this "pilot" had shoot down authority, but knew the pilot of the GA plane was an "idiot" and not a sure-nuff member of the Religeon of Peace?! Why not just kill the GA pilot, Capt? Was he a threat or not? And what's with calling him an idiot - even when the Capt. thought her email wouldn't be posted to an Internet email list?! I'm just a lowly GA pilot, but it sounds a little arrogant. I mean, aren't F-16 pilots supposed to be the absolute best of the best - nerves of steel, impeccable judgement?! Seems to me it would just be business - do your job. Just not a very professional way to discuss what has been conveyed to me a *very* serious situation - even between friends. I mean, they tell us this loss of our aviation freedom (TFR's) is a matter of national security and the president's life, right?! Sorry, Captain, guess I'm just not in a mood to see the humor today... Bryan Jones Houston, Texas do not archive >Folks, > > From an aerobatic student of mine. --> Yak-List message posted by: "Sam Sax" <cd001633@mindspring.com> I am with you Doug! The guy was an Idiot (and expensive) - and I can see and relate to the chuckle in her 'voice'... Human judgment can't be replaced when it comes to pushing 'the red button' - not just yet, anyway. I kind of was in her shoes a couple of times in 'my past life'... ..and in one other such case the guy was not an idiot at all and had to be brought down (no, not in the U.S of A). Subject: Fwd: I protect the world from idiots like this!!
--> Yak-List message posted by: Walt Fricke <walterfricke@yahoo.com> Doug. The guy is from a local field here in MN where the president has been showing up very regularly lately and shutting down flying for "security reasons". These TFR's are a joke. 200 thousand automobiles got MUCH closer without security clearances to the president that this poor guy. (dumb to not check, but I coulda done it too...not used to having to check for presidents before flying for 40 years....) And this guy was NO WHERE NEAR "VERY CLOSE TO THE PRESIDENT". The airport and town he was "flared" over is 10 ENE of MSP. The President was between MSP at the eastern most point adn at least 15 West of MSP for the rallies he attended. I don't believe a call to the guy on 122.7 would have been out of order before giving him a 'Hot nose" with a pair of F-16's and then dumping 4-6 flares in his flight path. (although if I were flying the F-16 I'da been tempted to have some fun too!) I like the "ATTA Boy" Was that pun intended? you are one clever dude! --> Yak-List message posted by: Num1Pilot@aol.com Yaks, CJs, L-Birds... they are all good! Though I do have to say that even though Jim thinks his goes longer than Paul's (though I doubt it), I do think that the Yak can beat a CJ in ACM..... Just my $0.02... oh and Jim, your plane has to be flying before you can talk smack about the length of another man's, ah hem, well you know what I mean. I hope you get it up (no pun intended) soon so we can see how those new tanks of yours work in the CJ! What I am really posting about is that my sister is the one who did the ALL RED STAR Video this year and we are always looking for ways to improve it. If you have something you would like to see in next years video, drop me a personal line or post it on the list. Thanks! I run a stock standard and great for cross country 'cause you can pack more than a toothbrush Nanchang. I've just bought a Yak however. Cheers, Graeme Nanchang 01 'There can be only one!'
