Ernie,
I have a copy of the original paperwork for the "kit" as
approved by a DER as a fix. The other 3 A/C in the box with
mine came in were owned by Alan Beaver & Bill Thorndale. It
was this batch where the problem was first reported.
Additionally, I had guys from the AA mechanics school make
up a set of false ribs to distribute and dampen some of the
load so there would not be a concentrated point.
Inspection s/b done at least annually. No problems after 9
years now but I still keep looking.

I have this really good IA on the field who I trust to do my annuals, I'll
ask him to do the dye penetrant test next time.
Thanks
Ernie

I also have a TW. SN 17 with electric as well as air start. The battery is
forward in my plane. I have done more acro over the past 6 mos including
spins - no problems with 2 people. I have only done inverted with Sergei in
the back seat and no problems either. In fact he had some very positive
comments about the control authority and recovery capability.

Also, relocating the batteries forward makes this a total non-issue. I
*think* the factory has made the battery relocation standard to move the cg
forward.

types of spins (upright, inverted and flat) with two people. No different

Graeme,
Kelly, as usual is spot on but he forgot one thing: Use a newly sharpened
screwdriver. The slot in the bolt is both narrow and shallow.
Good luck.
Always Yakin,

Everyone has their own favorite sources . . .
http://www.aaronsmetricscrews.com/
I researched all the popular sources and he had the best prices.
Service is excellent either by website or by telephone.
I've ordered custom cockpit screws for my Yak 52.
And now stainless steel 4mm and 5mm screws for fuselage.
Often the secret is to order far more than you might need as the prices really
go down in case quantities.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the EAA changed next year's
OSH schedule to start on Monday and end on Sunday. This has
implications on our MTW agenda, it squeezes us into maybe 2
mass practices tops. I'm wondering what the Warbird airshow
schedule is and how it will affect Sunday's show...if there
even is a WB show then.
Me, I have to change my housing reservation.

The folks at Dixon who host the Sauk Valley one day air show on Saturday
before Osh have invited us back to do a mass flyover also.
