I'm sorry to have to say this but you can expect more actions like what
you are seeing with the hangar Nazis. One look at what they are trying
to do to the rules of aviation will tell you that. Take for example the
ALIEN TRAINING RULE. The rule would
require pilots to prove their U.S. citizenship or resident status before
taking a flight review or any kind of flight instruction. Flight
instructors
and flight schools would be required to keep copies of pilots' personal
papers for five years.
Here's another, The Department of Defense (DOD) and the FAA have
proposed
turning the TFRs over Bangor, Washington, and St. Mary's, Georgia,
into prohibited areas. And you remember that other rule proposed by a
New York lawmaker that would prohibit flights of anything other than
major carriers over populated areas. I could go on and on but I think
you get the idea.
Each one of these actions is in response to 911 and is only the tip of
the iceberg. Like I've said before, all it would take is a terrorist
attack using an aircraft to spread anthrax and you'll quickly see just
how much people value your freedoms. Yet these same idiots will never
prohibit the freedom of muslims to immigrate here. Hell, they won't even
round up the existing illegal immigrants or even protect our borders.
Personally, I've given up trying. I figure the day will come when people
will finally wake up and ask where their freedoms have gone.
Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen until we are near the demise
of this republic.

I know a couple of people that have installed alarm systems into their
hangers just to stop such a thing, our local police charge $25.00 for
false alarms. If they got that bill each time that they entered without
you being there they may reconcider what they are doing. Also the alarm
horn could be setup so loud as to drive anyone but the most determined to
leave as quickly as possible. Also the alram is a two way system that can
turn or off the lights and hanger heater. I'm told that on one of those
cold winter mornings coming into a nice warm airplane is worth it's
expense.

This is exciting news! So many folks look at the OSH as "too long" to
commit to. 2 practices with guys that are form qualified should be
enough to knock the rust off and have half a clue of what we're doing
the first day at the show. We could also have a mid-week practice or
two if we wanted to change up/add to the "routine".
Flight of 30 in '05?

Just a reminder from the insurance office.
There is no "Open Pilot Provision" on any of our warbird policies.
Any pilots flying your aircraft need to be named specifically in writing.
This is true even if the pilot has "more time than God".
If in doubt, pull out that envelope that contains the insurance policy I mailed
you 6 months ago.
Feel free to open the envelope (no special tools required) and take a look who
you've got for a listed pilot.
If I write your insurance you can email me and I'll confirm it for you (during
workdays, please. . )
On a similar note, the companies are getting very strict about fresh signed applications
every year.
So do not be surprised if it seems like you have to do a new application every
year.
I have to do the same thing for my Yak (actually that's not really true, but should
make you feel better. . :).
Remember this is our year to really focus on avoiding prop strike incidents.
Also double and triple check mag switch before pulling the prop through.
A pilot pulling a Cessna out of a hangar was killed dead last week when the prop
moved as he pulled the 172 out of the hangar.
Fly safe.

Well maybe... after our mass formation stuff that went well
at Jackson, TN; I'm convinced that we really need that long
awaited Mass Formation Manual. One that details what works
and what doesn't. One that gives briefing details for the
guys on the inside and guys in back...not just briefing
board diagrams.
Stay away from those damned @!%$#&% boxes/Dog Paws that
squeeze the inside guys with nowhere to go when *stuff*
happens.
What worked on the Arrowhead/Big Vee or Big Delta, was
having everyone on the outside turn in echelon while the
inside stacked low.
What works is having the slot guys fly close trail on the
guy in front of them and then transitioning back to their
Element Lead when disengaging.
What Sucks is having formation names that sound alike...like
Big Vee and Christmas Tree. All it takes is an O2 mask mike
to garble the command.
Airshow Flying is not FAST flying, but FAST flying has to be
mastered first.

Why not even more? We can do it!
BTW: Hats off to "Pappy" and Bob Langford for the Superlead
work at Jackson. Flying up front really takes great SA as
well as a keen sense of Position & Timing. Just don't hold
in the same circle though!
