This is why the vent system should be interconnected using a single vent source and not separate. If you have separate vents you can end up preventing the flow of fuel. Fuel and vent systems seem to be the bane of homebuilders and experimental aircraft. Even our least experienced folks are much more adept at maneuvering at non-towered airports than your typical spam can pilot. Most of the folks flying rentals - or just flying with less intensity (?) than most formation types (the ones being described in this thread) - are generally pretty ignorant of things like overhead approaches and multiple AC formations meshing with the pattern. Some are just flat terrified and think civillians flying formation is illegal and wreckless. What I've noticed occasionally that bothers me is when a flight lead gets short or unnecessarily critical with a someone on the radio who has gotten in the way or fouled up somehow. These guys (the ones who foul up) usually have no idea what it means when we call something like "1/2 mile initial for the overhead", etc. It irritates me too when someone causes my flight to have to deviate, leave the area or worse out of lack of attention or understanding. But I believe we've got a little more burden to carry when bringing a flight into a non-towered airport traffic area (not uncontrolled, but that's just a picky point). If you can't safely lead the flight in and get all the planes at least into the flow of the pattern safely - *with* all the infrequent fliers in their spam cans - then I'd say don't come in as a flight. Now, for those 500-hr cfi wonders teaching B-52 patterns and those stupid overfly and teardrop back to the 45 entry - I'm open to suggestions. my 2 cents Bryan Jones RV-8, Yak or CJ later Houston Roger, that. Fly at uncontrolled fields and it's every man for himself--no "rules," just the "recommendations" in the AIM. If you do something "unusual," like a 360 overheard or a straight-in (with or against the flow, IMC or VFR), you'll always surprise a few and maybe get a few surprises yourself, radio calls or not. Keep them eyes out and yer butt puckered, even on a "standard" 45 entry, severe clear. I would not be so quick to judge. You might want to talk to the pilot on the ground, he may be unfamiliar with the airport, in training/low time or may never have operated around warbirds. Talking with a guy and giving him a little guidance dare I say teach/explain/help would help him not to repeat the same mistake. I have on a couple of occasions nearly been run over by a yak-52, having his own personal air show, while in the pattern.... and yes I am the guy in the piper rental. If you like to fly form and want perfectly controlled patterns then join the Air National Guard otherwise fly safe and roll with it. Keep the comments constructive. There were about 117 of them queued when I noticed what was going on. In a nutshell, this guy signed up for all of the Lists and had a "register with my site" spam filter enabled on his account. When his account started receiving List messages, it started sending back, "you need to register" messages back to the various Lists which in turn went to the Lists which in turn got sent to the same spam filter which in turn sent back a message indicating that the List needed to register, and so on and so on until, I suppose, the Internet just blew up! Sheeze, some of these spam systems are so brain dead! Anyway, I've cleaned out all of the messages generated by this thing and put in a permanent block from this cashette.com website so that this shouldn't be a problem any longer. The M14 cylinder baffle is different than the Huosai (and AI14) installation. The baffle is designed for a much closer fit to the cylinder fins than the earlier engines though the clearance to the head fins is the same. This particular engine has a mix of both Huosai and M14 baffles and a history of running hot. Either baffle will fit and the difference may not be noticed. The correct one is stamped M14 on the aft side. Walt
