    Subject: Wooden Prop refinishing
--> Yak-List message posted by: "cpayne@joimail.com" <cpayne@joimail.com> Just curious, has anyone stripped the paint and fabric off of a paddle blade prop, down to the wood and refinished? If so I could use some advice, if not, I will boldly go go where others fear to tread...it's too late to reverse what I started. There was this chip on the back of the prop you see, and I just couldn't stop myself. BTW, I DO HAVE a prop OH manual for the Wilga prop but I plan on using light weight crow foot weave 'glass cloth and epoxy + microballoon filler, with a polyurethane paint top coat. Balanced to the gram, of course...manual says 3 grams are good enough. Craig Payne

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Aubrey Price" <aubrey.price@ifwireless.com> The pipe from the cabin heat box to the air intake that goes through the gills has disappeared in flight. The clamps are still there. The pipe is a y with one end to the cabin heat and the other to cabin vent. Anyone have an extra they want to sell cheap. Aubrey Price N288Y Aubrey.price@ifwireless.com

    Subject: Yak-50
--> Yak-List message posted by: Barry Hancock <barry@flyredstar.org> OK, so I can now make a first hand comparison.... T-28 = high cool factor on the ground and on T.O., fun low level, otherwise mundane and burns a big hole in the wallet. Oh, and the constant fear of engine failure looming big in the back of your mind. L-39 = very high cool factor to pilot a turbine, delight to fly, comfortable, fun, performance is without equal for the money, 180 gallons an hour is not for every day flying for most of us. Yak-50 = WOW! Incredibly capable. Insatiable appetite for fun. Best performance for the money. Tail dragger keeps it sporting. Fast in cruise (70% and max throttle = CJ-like speed of 155 kts at 7500 feet on a cold day). Short legs, not much baggage....and you can't share the fun. CJ-6A with M14P = All things considered is still the best warbird for the money. Someone on the list asked me to wait until I had flown the -50 to make further comment, so I have. All the above being said, I think the -50 is the best second airplane you could ever have...and the coolest formation aerobatic team mount available. In 5 or 10 years, it just might happen here in the US..... Off to ICAS on Monday... Barry
