Doug, I think she just hit me with one! Not that a single
"mucky stick" would ever keep away a REAL RedStar guy away
from a fair lass with her own CJ/Yak...perhaps it works on
those week-kneed spam can drivers who don't get as much

Ron,
I was off on the weight. I checked the manual it says 11.6 kg which
converts to 25.6 lbs.

Perfume, dahhling, perfume.... ;) And its a mixture of avgas and oil, of
course.......
On a more serious note, the INS has seen fit to issue me with all my
employment authorization papers at long last, so if anyone know of a
corporate flight department within about a 70 mile radius of Oshkosh that is
looking for a pilot, please let me know. As soon as I can get a regular
income I can repaint the Nanchang :)
Thank you,

Folks,
I am sure that this one has been slammed to death but I am looking for a
really good 28V to 12V converter that works at a frequency that will work
with a VHF com.
I am going to be driving a couple of microair coms and some cameras so I am
looking for about 7 + amps to make sure that I am not driving the unit at
max. I do not really want to center tap the batteries due to uneven loads
and charging issues. Any comments on the microair would be great to.
BTW, Happy winter solstice to one and all, as a person who grew up with a
bedroom window overlooking Stonehenge I feel a strong urge to go out and get
me a virgin.

To All,
I have got to say that this e-mail list is really a fantastic wealth of
info! I thank one and all for their time and input.
Ok am slowly zeroing in on the W&B! One more question...anybody know the
weight of the old Flight Data Recorder and its station on the Yak 55M, as I
plan on replacing the FDR location with a smoke tank and pump?
I am also somewhat amazed that the few Yak 55M in my area appear to have
minimal W&B calcs!
Merry Christmas! -rs-

Troops,
A little scuttlebutt from very good sources.
The T-34 that just lost its wing down in Texas, while doing upset training
with a South American student, had over 6,000 hours of 'air combat' time in the
last ten or so years. It had some 14,000 hours total time.
The wing broke 4 or 5 inches inside the fuselage wing attach point, in the
cross over structure. Evidently the failure accrued at an old crack. There
were also other cracks in the cross over section. The airplane had been over
stressed a number of years ago at Sky Warriors in GA. and the spars were replaced
with Baron spars at that time. Whether or not the crossover was inspected
back than I don't know. Note that the Baron spars didn't fail but crossover
structure between them so this is a "new problem". The inspection should be
fairly easy but the repair/replace may not be.
I understand the holders of the 4 spar mods that right now keep all T-34
airborne may change their specs to not cover air combat type maneuvers. The FAA
seem to think that maybe good idea. This will most likely do away with those
type "combat" schools/busniess but allow the T-34 guys back in the air. That
is a simple as I can put it and this is very unoffical.
While all this may seem out of our "baileywick" STC vs Experimental, the
physics is not. Though our airplanes for the most part have much lower total
times and we have never have had a known mid air breakup, physics is physics.
We
may luck out, in that our drag rise is a lot steeper than T-34s and we get to
see a problem approaching sooner, we need to keep in mind and be continually
reminded about over stressing our machine. In the heat of going after the
kill, pilots will forget his first love, his airplane. Also preflight inspections
and well as annuals inspection should be done meticulously. The cracks that
these failures start from, are unbelievably small and hard to find with the
naked eye. I got to see the original crack that caused the "to-do" on the rear
spar of the T-34. It was unbelievably small.

(1) I believe Winter Solstice isn't until the 21st, 0742 in
your area.
(2) LOL on Virgins over the legal minimum. Perhaps try some
W120 "aftershave" for some of those Yak Groupies... or do
you prefer 25W60??

Due to popular demand, I'm posting room reservation info for
our April Sun-n-Fun get together. We are staging out of
Zephyrhills (ZPH), just NNW from LAL, located on Highway 301
and SR54 which crosses over from I-75. Easy to fly to, Easy
to drive to. Finding the road to the airport is a little
trickier.
(1) Quality Inn, (813)762-2000, block period from Sunday
4/10, with Sunday 4/17 checkout. $63.99/night if more than
10 rooms reserved, otherwise $71.99 for King or Doubles.
Mention "RedStar Pilots". Cancel 5 days prior to avoid 1st
night charge. Cut off date for this rate is March 20th. I
have 20 rooms on hold here and can get more if we need them.
(2) Best Western, (813) 782-5527, about 1 mile closer to
airport than the Quality, same block period but $71.10
night. Mention "RedStar Pilots". Rooms not reserved will be
released April 1st. Not sure how many rooms I can actually
hold, this place is a lot smaller.
Make your own Credit Card reservation for these rooms at the
RPA rate. I'll post rental car details later. Note that many
other SNF attendees have been doing this very thing and at
least 3 car rental companies will be at the field.

As many of you know (and I am sure some don't) my primary business is
growing flowers, my business name is actually Riverview Floral LTD. As the
US flower market edged ever closer to the rim of the toilet I started
selling CJ parts. In an effort to save a buck we decided to use the same
credit card machine and credit card account that the floral business used.
So when your credit card statement comes to you and your wife starts giving
you the twenty questions treatment about who the hell you are sending 500
bucks worth of flowers to, please remember to tell her that it's really the
"metal mistress" down at the hanger, not some bimbo bleach blonde strumpet
that you have housed in a $3000.00 per month condo on the beach....honest
honey. Over the past few months I have had at least a dozen calls from
freaked out wives who wanted to know in no uncertain terms who the hell
their lying, cheating, good for nothing layabout husbands were sending
flowers to. One very pissed off wife indicated that "the dirty little SOB
(her words) has never bought me a flower in 20 years"!! (some guys just
aren't overly bright) I have also had several charges voided, Who the hell
is Riverview?? This is a hassle also. So until we get a new account please
remind your wife or whoever pays your bills that the charges to Riverview
are OK. And while your at it go buy your wife some flowers, it just might
be a good thing for both of us.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your
business over the past years. Your support has been unbelievable, it has
allowed me to develop my inventory into the largest CJ6 inventory anywhere
this side of China and it's still growing because of all of you. Thanks
again and please take our best wishes with you as you and your families
enjoy this joyous Christmas season. Bless you one and all.
Best wishes from our house to yours.

It reminds me of my PAA days when crew scheduling lost me for a couple days
(like 4). There I was sitting on the beach in Africa waiting to get assigned a
flight home. There they were calling the house (ie my wife) wanting to send
me out on a trip.
There no scheduling computer back than. Just paper that evidently fill on
the floor. Aaaa, that was the life.

What kind of inconsiderate bastards are all of you people anyway?.....that you
do not send your loved ones flowers at LEAST once per month. You certainly must
be your own worst enemy! rb

Doug and Kathleen Sapp
